Just curious who would you hire? 2 choices?

Not for sure who I would hire but It wouldnt be any of the names thats being thrown out here.If I wanted to make a big hire I would search until I found one that says yes.this is digging at the bottom of the barrel.Sounds like to me Gruden said No and Hart went straight to the flea market to find a coach.
I never said Gruden will come in and win a NC in the first year or 2nd year but his name alone will bring in the big time recruits and he would have a chance to win.
Hart has to hit a grand slam or its going to be more of the same.
the 2 names I would take is Carroll,Gruden. If I want to win these are the 2 I want to be on my side.

TN is so blessed to have a great wealth of not only football knowledge but sooooooo many coaches and AD 's here tonight. Okay. Remind me why do we need Gruden with so much talent?

We made numerous offers and finally we realized the jerk had no intentions of ever accepting any offer we made. It was the. Our duty to go find a candidate that wanted to bring us back to dominance.

Signed
Dave Hart

And this assertion is based upon information from a source identified as "a person close to the situation within the Athletic Department who does not have the authority to speak for the Athletic Department who has requested to remain anonymous".

Soooo glad that I buy tickets to see my team play regardless of the coach bc I am a TN fan. I'm not takin my support away if I don't get what I want....

And TN will not miss my contribution if I don't buy a ticket bc TN is bigger than any fan or coach...

Your self righteousness is annoying. People not renewing their season tickets and supporting the Vols from their couches does not make them any less of a fan than you. It is perfectly fine to be so annoyed with the AD on this coaching search. It is ok to CARE that much. Stop trying to cause a fuss by "slyly" implying that you are a better fan than others. Sheesh.

Just as believable as anything else we have heard. In fact more so

Mora actually is interested.

It is thought by some that he reached out to Dave Hart in the not so distant past.

I hope your right. I will venture a guess and say I am very confident that hart has done his due diligence here and will make sure he leaves no stone uncovered. If mora is interested I am sure he is evaluating just how interested he is

More believable than a 23 year veteran reporter who put his career on the line with his story and his sources?

This is starting to get argumentative and I'm sure I'm sounding harsh so I'll step aside for the night.

Name calling and insulting those who have supported this program for over 30 years with their hard earned money that just want an AD to do what's best for their program is part of the natural selection?

Maybe it's just me, and maybe I'm just tired (which I'm sure of), but this is a very fragile time for this program and its supporters.

We do not want to settle for mediocrity at this point, and if there was/is ANY possibility (within reason), then it should be done.

Gruden is that possibility for some of us. Is why we are here in the Gruden thread.

Sometimes a huge hire is just not possible. When faced with that, if your first instinct is to not support the team anymore, then you are not a true fan. I'm sorry to be blunt, but there are many times in life where all you have is LOYALTY.

If you don't like the vibe why you hanging here? I mean what are you Harts assistant?

been a vols fan since 2008. i did not get to relish in the glory days of 1998. i have since made it a part of my history as i graduated from UT, but i don't have the curse of reliving what once was. Granted my loyalty is not as deep as some, but i am passionate for what lies ahead. i do not posess the sense of entitlement that come with being a long time vol. but i am a vfl, and it just bums me out to hear fans threaten to stop supporting our football team bc we might not be able to land a super bowl winning coach. I'm looking for the glory days of tomorrow!

Son, lets have a little chat about those years you missed. Peyton started a streak of 9 wins against the tide. Majors beat Bear in '82 after a long drought and it was sweet. My accidentally ran into my 72 year old dad on the 45 yard line after we stormed the field. Condredge lit it up, as did Willy Gault and Peerless price. Look up Kiner, Graham, Emanuel , even Johnny Bulter.

Now contrast that with a guy who gets touchdowns called back for celebration (twice) when it's November and we haven't won an SEC game yet. What's to celebrate? Or a quarterback throwing a touchdown against Vandy and then getting caught on TV shooting stink eye at the Vandy bench when in reality, he's getting his ass beat and being cocky about it.

I saw my first UT game in ' 65 vs. Army. Spent many fall afternoons in neyland and I promise you, this is as low as its been, at least to me. Worse than when we started ou 0-6 with majors. We recovered quite nicely if you go back and look, but for a moment it was almost as dark.

I think a coach with some spine would cure some of this cancer I call cockiness and right the ship. As loyal as I am, it's hard to watch train wreck after train wreck and want more of it.

Take heart though, bama suffered too during the Dubose, Shula, Price and Francione years. You'd never think they were down, but they were and have recovered nicely. UT can do that too, but it's a critical time. Success breeds success and at one point this season, 5 of the teams that we play every year were in the top 10. Not fair you say? Well there once was a day when we were hanging right in there with them and competitive. Only glimmer of that was the first half of the Florida game this year before the bottom fell out. If we get another loser, even the loyal guys will bail. Sorry, but I'm not paying to watch stink eye.

Yep.

Oh wait. It can't buy wins?! Hey oh!

With all the money that we have spent on the football program the last few years, you would think we would be in the top ten.

Yea, breaking the bank for the best coach money could buy didn't work at all for Alabama or Ohio State.

I believe that report was accurate. I dispute the timeline of that article. I was told gruden kept demanding more money and control. As soon as it was given to him(which would have been after that report) gruden kept adding more demands. This happened multiple times. He never was going to accept.
