The same smile he gave to the recruit committed to Ole Miss while saying "I will be the coach at Louisville in 2013". A beast that is a good liar.

Had he said "I'm leaving," it would have been a lot worse. He's not going to keep his current school from getting a commit.

Me too bro!I find it pretty interesting they are offering season tix for $300 dollars from TOS!Sounds like they are already anticipating some pissed off fans!

i bet they are.if these people think strong is going to lead tn back to the top then just set back and watch this program drown.

You think Bielema was a great hire? haha, that guy won in a weak division for years, cushioned by his environment away from the SEC. Now, he faces Alabama, LSU, A&M, Auburn, and Miss. State. What a terrible decision for him.Why make your life harder for 2 million dollars more a year?

You forgot Tennessee in the list of teams.

This thread was really fun now its a little too serious. Everyone needs to relax, its not like you are dodging IEDs or having RPGs whiz by your head.

Most real thing said in here all day. A little prospective is needed.

Amen Gman.

They brought Hart in to be the proverbial "hatchet" man. Anyone in corp america knows that these type hires (Hart) are brought in to do a single job which is to trim the fat and cull the herd. He will not be here long and UT will be stuck with another dud as a football coach!!!

Mark my words Hart will return to Bama within 30 months!!!

Bingo :good!:

You make a valid point. I should have not said that in regards to switching allegiences. They don't care about me that's true, and since they ate 1000 miles away, there is little chance of me supporting them either. They beat Bama this year, which is is something I don't see us doing anytime soon without a BIG hire.....and I don't just mean Gruden.

Strong is small time thinking, which seems to be the mold we are stuck in, and I'm tired of it. I still don't believe it, but if OT happens to come to fruition I believe it signals a continuation of mediocrity. Nobody here can seriously say Charlie Strong is the type of coach to go head to head with Nick Saban and have us on equal footing with Bama.

I unreservedly apologize for what I said, it was bush league. I love the Vols, but despise our leadership right now from top to bottom. I'm not alone in this.....many active letterman of various sports agree. It's a mess.

I've backtracked and apologized now, so all of you gloating trolls feel free to flame away. I'm mispoke, and am broad enough between the shoulders to take my lumps.

When this thing breaks the other way on you, be man enough to take what gets dishes back out.

This isn't over yet.

There was going to be a time, even if Gruden were the hire, that his tenure here would come to an end. I felt if he came here, and had great success like many of us feel he would, that he would go back to the NFL. He loves the NFL and wants to coach there, he's made that known.

If we were lucky enough to have Gruden come, and stay for 15 years or whatever the case may be, there'd be a time for him to leave/retire. We'd have to find another guy to come in a take over. And that guy could very well suck and bring us back to irrelevancy like we are now.

Just as Strong, or Gundy, or Fedora, or whoever the hell we hire has a chance to suck. They also have a chance to succeed. Tennessee will rise again. Tennessee will fall again. That's just college football. We've been so blessed to have people like Neyland, Majors and Fulmer, guys who stuck around for a while with a lot of success. But we've also been through the Robinson, Wyatt, McDonald, Battle(he was more up and down than just down, but whatever), Kiffin and Dooleys of the CFB world. We've been here before. We'll get out of it. We'll be back. It'll keep going on like that til the end of time.

Giving up on a coach who hasn't had the chance to show us anything before he gets here, I don't care who it is, is silly, and giving up on the team for it is even sillier.

There are plenty of top talent coaches out there that we should be pursuing. If we hire Strong, it reeks of desperation just like Dooley.

Who are the top talent coaches?

Mora-said no thanks
Pelini-wasn't contacted
Gundy- wanted more money
Sarkisian- stuck to the West Coast
Fisher-said no thanks

That's a realistic list of who we could get. Anyone needs to realize that whoever we hire will have to prove that UT can win again. Recruiting is a moral win for us, and should help ease the pain of Dooley's mediocrity.

I can guarantee that 90%+ of the people flaming Boro wouldn't have the guts to show back up to take their lickin' in the thread if Strong is not announced as HC. Props.

Everyone needs to relax.
You people are too strung up and it's gotten out of control---worse than kids weeks before Christmas.
Remember, at the end of the day it is football--- no matter how much I, or any of you, feel, it is just that.
I love UT-- I LOVE TENNESSEE FOOTBALL
Born in Knoxville, raised in Cincy
4 years out of state tuition for 2 degrees---I AM TENNESSEE ALUMNI
Remember more than anything -----REMEMBER WE ARE VOLS--the only true mascot who carries real meaning---
Maybe because we love 'em so much we treat one another like family on here and so, the vitriol and hate can get heated fast. I don't know.
But, now, more than not, we need to try and keep our family issues inside the family and keep it together out here on the old interweb.
Disagreement is great, acting like God has spoken the truth through you isn't. No one knows -- or rather--very few know what is coming. Until it is announced, keep it classy nation.

I don't consider myself apart of that group. But, nothing defines ignorance and oblivious better than this thread.

It is seriously comical how much time some of these people have put into the belief that Jon Gruden was coming to UT. It looks like borderline brain-washing.

The possibility of Gruden becoming our coach is/was significant.

You don't have to believe it. But don't be naive thinking you know everything there is to know. That's all I'm saying.

It's not just about Gruden...it's about wanting and expecting more for our football program.
