Strong to decline offer/Smart staying at bama
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sources on twitter say that Strong is really wrestling with this decision. Meanwhile, Smart's package has been enhanced at bama (have fun with that one).
TennesseeBeat More via @ericcrawford , some in Louisville athletic department believe Strong will stay or is wrestling w/ decision.
GrantRamey RT @ronmusselman8: Say, what? RT @footballscoop: Source tells us Kirby Smart agreed to an enhanced package today with Alabama.
Strong is the best hire for this program post Gruden talk.
This is a freaking grand slam.
Al Wilson and Leonard Little are pumped, I hope to see them around the program a lot.
Then, by all means, please state in a well-structured and logical argument why you think Strong does not deserve to be the HC at UT? I hope you're not implying that the AD is not qualified to do its job.
If you need something to start from, I'll gladly post his resume for you.
Because I brought info that I told you all I didn't believe? Lol. Sorry.
And it's not an "I told you so" motive.
It's a "Get off Gruden's dick and appreciate the great hire we're about to make." I don't want anyone to have their hearts totally set on Gruden, because that was never going to happen, and it makes every other candidate look bad.
The point is that Dooley was FIRED in no small part because of that loss to Kentucky. Fired to hopefully make way for a better coach.
And Charlie Strong, who lost to UConn and Syracuse is Dooley's replacement? Is expected to turn the program around? A guy with ONE HC position on his resume?
Please.
Hey, I just want to throw this out there - and you have to go back to the 90's to remember this (so this eliminates quite a few of you).
How many seasons in a row, did UT play on TV and Phil Fulmer was introduced as "the winningest active coach in college football". I think that went on for years and he was up around 85%. I know he fell from grace, but dang, just thing how far we've fallen.
That statistic wasn't just a one season pop. It lasted a long time. That and our "We don't lose in November" statistic. Sure miss those days.
I'm beginning to think there is a new generation of VOLS fans that don't quite have an understanding of where we came from. We need the right guy.
I'm starting to think Strong won't leave. UofL is set up for another BCS run next year and we're a wreck. Another good year at the Ville and Strong can probably get himself one of those top 20 job that John Adams wrote about.
Wow. I read this whole Boro thread and feel like I just witnessed the wavering of one of the biggest OGs.
I'll take this as as much of a concession as Boro will give to the untruth of the Gruden talk.
I understand. You believe what you believe until you dont anymore.
Life sucks. Being a Vol fan certainly has sucked for a long time now.
Hope you feel better soon Boro, buddy. The sun will shine tomorrow. Go Vols.
