Strong is a much better coach then Dooley... not a remotely fair or educated statement.

When I said Strong = Dooley 2.0, I was not meaning that I thought Strong was a worse Coach than Dooley..not at all. My point is that from the Program's perspective I feel we will be in the same boat we are in right now...3 years down the road...that's all I meant...that the overall result for Vol football will be the same...mediocre...mediocre isn't my idea of Vol ball. That clarify it?

Hmmm... anyone else think that all this "noise" may be coming from Louisville AD? They're trying to force Tennessee's hand? Showing CS that we're holding out for Gundy's reply to piss him off?

Funny how Jimmy Cheek thinks that the suspended annual funds ($6m/yr) from the Athletics Dept will only last for three years. They'll likely never get money from them again- can't squeeze blood from a turnip.

Get the right coach and we generate revenue. We don't need the money. Ticket sales, merchandise and BCS bowls. Saban is a great example, he turned it around.

How did I waver? I responded, more emotionally than rationally earlier. And I posted to fix some ill advised statements.

My last sentence sums up my belief though. My info, though limited since last week, has not changed.

It's still not over until Strong or some other lackluster hire is walked to the podium.

That's cool. You got back on the wagon, but you very publicly wavered. You threatened to become a ATM fan if Strong was hired. It was a fit of panic. That wouldn't have come from someone that was 100% confident in the outcome of this situation.

You may believe your source(s) 100%, but that's different from you knowing 100% what is going to happen. I saw that moment of panic in your post. I get it and am not trying to get you mad.

You're sticking to your guns, but you're not 100% sure there's any ammo in them.

Unfortunately, Hart couldn't care less about what we think. He's busy finalizing his Miami trip... sharing a box with Mal.

If I were him, I would still go down to Hawaii and interview Norm Chow. Not for any real consideration but, just to go to Hawaii for a couple of days.

Even I agree with that.

I still know we can do much better.

We are dumping a morbidly obese chick for a fat one if we hire Strong

I am afraid the fat one will gain all of her weight back in 3 years...right back to morbidly obese.

I think Strong is somewhere on Hart's list and he is probably also on Wisconsin's list so things may have been accelerated. There's enough smoke that I think Strong was probably offered the job but I am 50/50 that he will accept. He may get a better offer tonight.

IF THIS DOESN'T GIVE IT WAY, i dont know what does. hmmm espn reporting charlie strong top candidate, lol. if this does not frutate by friday, gruden is in. thats brilliant, have your employer smoke up the room.

You're crazy to compare Dooley, who had a losing record at LaTech and was basically Saban's paperboy, to Strong who was leading badass defenses for Holtz, Zooker, and Meyer, and then turning around the Louisville Kragthorpe dumpster fire.

To even mention the two in the same sentence, shows the total and complete depth of your ignorance.

You said that fans will pack Neyland to see Strong.

I disagree - the fan base will be just as divided as this message board. I simply referenced that the fan base has and will show its disdain for a coach by not attending; the name of the coach does not matter!

Season tickets are dirt cheap and it isn't just because the economy.

Strong had one good year at Louisville and you want put him up against the likes of Miles, Saban, Muschamp, Richt and Spurrier. Strong went 7 and 5 his first two years in the toilet bowl that is the Big East. The SEC is the toughest conference in America by a country mile!

It is not a learn on the job conference!
