Quick question.... Why are we believing reporters who had no idea about the Arky hire, the Burn hire and the KY hire until the schools actually wanted it out. But we are to believe they know what UT wants or is about to get.

Think about it within an hour of all those three hires come out on the net, then ESPN confirms within an hour or so. However, the net is saying Strong to UT and all ESPN can do is come out with is re-reporting the internet rumors.

Makes me wonder what really is going on.....

Consider carefully that Urban Meyer makes 4.5 at tOSU.

That would likely make Strong in the top 10 coaching salaries.

David Shaw at Stanford makes 1.5 mil a year. Chip Kelly makes 2.8.

No way Chip Kelly makes 2.8. If true, some sick alt source of income is def in play.

It was a Fwiw post. A Louisville booster told me they had counter offer a 3.7mil 5yr offer on try and keep him. He is very well connected with a number of AD members there. Like I said fwiw

But you did not qualify your post with fwiw. You presented it as legitimate information from a source who would know. A booster you say? Can you give us his name? How well connected is he? Why should we believe anything he has to say? Does he have a track record of accurate inside information? Can you give us examples? Which members of the AD is he connected with, exactly? Why would these AD members speak to him personally about the situation? Does the Louisville AD often approach him for advice?

I don't have an issue w/ the OGs - it's been a great thread and a lot of fun.

I am no worse off because of what the OGs predicted and now have my first good memory regarding the Vols in 2012 thanks to the OGs.

This is a really good way of putting it IMO

I don't have to pull up Wikipedia to find out who Strong is, so that's a plus.

I agree, but my wife's reaction when I said it looks like Charlie Strong was..."who's that"? Which is exactly the reaction we both had to Dooley. When I told her he was the coach at Louisville she said "basketball school", I said yeah.

I wish people would quit comparing Dooley and Strong because there are more than 120 current college coaches that are better than Dooley. Being better than Dooley is not the goal.
