I'll be honest with you and I know I'll get flamed but I think I would rather have Fulmer back than Strong or Fedora. If we are going to scrape this low in the barrel, I would be ok with Fulmer. I would absolutely NOT allow any form of buyout in his contract!

I think if you believe Gruden is in the bag the AD is looking for number two or a backup plan in case it falls through at the last minute so you are not setting there without a plan or direction to go then that, would make sense. Also, if you believe he is getting his best candidate lined up to present to the BOT along with Gruden then it makes sense too. There are so many things that have been speculated about as to why this is happening now in reference to the coaching search, who knows....just throwing it out there. I do not know what to believe at this point.

This is true. I spoke about the search and was going well until I said that word. "Gruden" seems to be the kryptonite to these superman people on the radio. It just seemes odd that as soon as it is meantioned BOOM goes the dynamite. I know Bobby on the show here in the tri-cities works for the vol radio network on the weekends and this just seems odd to me. I am still full on the Gruden train but I will admit this Strong talk scares the heck out of me.

I told my wife yesterday that the longer this thing drags on the better. It means IMHO that we are working on something big. It could still be Gruden:crossfingers:, it could be an NFL coach, or a big time college coach. If we are gonna hire Strong, Gundy, Fedora, or Smart it will be in the next couple of days. If this goes into next week and beyond I don't think it will be because they are all turning us down. I think it will mean something big is comingopcorn:.

Looks like its going to be Strong, but even through the disappointment we can be certain our vols will be better than what we have seen in recent years. I was reading through all of his notes in the Cliff notes thread. He never stated that Gundy interviewed with UT he just said he "will" interview and "sources" say he interviewed. I don't have a subscription to TOS, but from what has been brought here, Hubbs has an easy out with Gundy.
