Tressel could use that as a recruiting tool. ("Son, free body art for up to 4 years if you become a VFL"!:whatever:

Don't take it the wrong way.

I just have reason to believe that if our A) options don't come through, that Davis will be the fallback guy.

I am not saying he is on the short list.

I wouldn't worry about the probation thing with him though. He would not need to cheat at UT.
You may be right about that but if we were going to go after that type of coach as our 2nd option I would just rather have Patrino. He would win us some games that's for sure but you might wake up on a Sunday morning and he might be coaching somewhere else. The longer this thing plays out the better shot we have at getting Gruden. I know it is still a long shot. I will support whoever we get until they can prove they can't do the job. VOL 4 LIFE!

I made no such post to boro. The day is young my friend!

Those were two separate posts. One bashing Boro and the other bragging about you knowing exactly what's going on. The day is young. So "my friend", should we be looking for Strong to change his mind again after we supposedly counter offer?

If Strong does not come here I will not bash you and tell you "I told you so" even though many Nega-Grudes have come in here and done the same. Not saying you have but many have.

It's all good. If strong says no I will be much more disappointed for our program than I will be worried about this board. Just the same as If he says yes I will be much celebrating for our future than anything here on VN

Don't you find it odd that we don't really have any concrete facts on interviews for us? The only one is Gruden. Why the secrecy when Hart is supposed to be formally contacting coaches?

I know I will get flamed for this but...
If we didnt get Gruden ( which I am still 100% committed to) for the sake of argument, rather than make a hire we did not want or simply name an interim coach (aka lost year) why wouldnt we name Tressel. The true teeth of his show clause or for 5 weeks where his great staff hired would have to hold down the fort. After the five weeks its business as usual and we would have to walk the line. I realize the implications of being on probation and hiring a "show cause" penalty. But I believe Tressel is still quite respected. Yes he made some grievous errors, but the guy can coach and I feel knows to play it safe.

My flame retardant suit is on..... Bring it!
(and bring the Grude while your at it!)

While I agree Tressel can coach and I am not worried about the 5 game suspension its not like we were going 12-0 next year anyways (even if JG came on board as the coach). My problem is can he recruit the south and can he be competetive in this conference.

I am still on the Grude Express.

Bruin Posts regarding Strong offer (or whatever you want to call it):

9:18 yesterday - It was a Fwiw post. A Louisville booster told me they had counter offer a 3.7mil 5yr offer on try and keep him. He is very well connected with a number of AD members there. Like I said fwiw;

9:11 yesterday - Numerous reports say strong will be hired tomorrow. Nothing concrete;

8:48 yesterday - Yep got call from Louisville around 430 saying its done unless they make huge counter offer.

Darn excited!!!!';

8:24 yesterday - I posted earlier that Louisville was trying to decide if they wanted to or could match the offer. Any hint from the bluegrass state that indeed might happen??;

I will take Tressel. His penalty is to miss the first five games correct? 3 cupcakes and 2 national powers.

When you find yourself in danger,
When you're threatened by a stranger,
When it looks like you will take a lickin', puc, puc, puc
There is someone waiting,
Who will hurry up and rescue you,
Just call for Super ____________! Puc, puc, puc

Oldvol in the house singing us a "Gruvey" tune.:)
