Might be a chicken or the egg argument, but I'd really like to see what Strong would've done this year without a QB the caliber of Bridgewater. Granted, he got him there, so you have to consider that into the equation, but, prior to TB's emergence, Strong was just another name in the crowd.

Curious to know Bruin if you felt the same about Kiffin and Dooley. It has nothing to do with having an open mind. Its about hiring a top notch coach who has proven himself over more than 3 years as a head coach. We want UT to rise as much as you do and I will support whoever comes in here, but we should be able to expect more.

Dooley era we were ranked in top 25.

Maybe Strong views the circumstances differently than I do.
Perhaps he would have taken the UF job after his first season at UofL.
And, as he must have a high opinion of himself for him to be able to do his job, perhaps he thinks he should have been hired the first time.

I am sorry but i just do not see Strong putting fire back into this fanbase. Why do people think he can be a top SEC head coach? If this was true he would have been offered the job at Fla each of the two times he interviewed. Why now all of the sudden he has learned to interview. I am not seeing him being the hire we need to do what had to be done at my beloved UT.

you sound like the type that was lobbying for Dooley to get another 3 years. Let Tn make another hire like Dooley and see how much money the university loses.
because you like Strong,Mora or whoever else does not mean everybody else should turn flips over these clowns.

Dooley Seems like a Great Administrator though. He has the Knowhow and he seemed like someone who genuinely loved Wearing the Orange (he sucked at Coaching but that doesn't change the fact that he at least seemed like he liked it). I think he could do the job of AD much better than Coach...and he has AD Experience.

Yeah somewhere in that range. However I was reading today where there's a possibility of some who may change their commitment based on the next coach.

I'm sure that is also code for Gruden...:pepper::wacko:

I wanted davis or kelly when lane was hired and didn't like him at all until the season started. I then became a big fan.

DD I felt would win 8 games this year but was always firm that if he didn't we should fire him. I was disappointed he didn't do better.

Do research into Dooley you won't have this opionion after talking to 5 people close to the whole situation.. Guy was an absolute terror

Unless Gruden is tomorrow morning's mystery interview, and that would floor me, I think it's a safe bet that either Strong or Gundy are being hired this week. We could have done much worse. I think a lot of people will be disappointed by whoever we hire, not just because it's not Gruden, but because of the "quality" of football we've been watching for too long.

Bruin I thought you made the assertion that Strong would pull in top 15 class at UT this year if he were hired. Maybe it was someone else.

If Strong is hired and I find out that UT didn't pursue a home run hire, I will surely support my vols....

...from my couch minus my 6 season tix.

I refuse to pay if UT refused to pay.

Not to say I won't re-up in a couple years, but it will take time for me to support Hart with my money again.

This may sound childish or immature to some, but damnit, this Coach search should have brought in a DAMN big fish for my Vols.
