There's always the chance that one of the guys on the current short list will be another Will Muschamp, Brian Kelly, Chip Kelly, or Les Miles. Those guys all started from somewhere. It's not like they were born winners.

But, if you look at the names out there, with the exception of Gruden, does anybody truly, really believe that they can go toe to toe against Spurrier, Saban, Richt, and Miles on the gridiron and on the recruiting trail and win?

I'm sorry, but even if the next hire makes all the right moves at the right times, those days are at least 3 years away. It's the same philosophy as when we hired Dooley. It just doesn't produce immediate results, and to produce any results at all, they have to be flawless without getting discouraged, and sell the program in the midst of the down times.

I'm just really disappointed with the approach that has been taken by the UTAD on this, and the Knox media trying to tell every one that, against their common sense, all these guys really are home run hires. No wonder people want Fulmer back.

Part of the problem with Strong and Gundy is their staff. I dont believe that either has the pedigree to bring an all star staff and staff in more ways than one will make you or break you.

Besides Gruden the ones that have a chance to go toe to toe in my opinion are Mora,Stoops, and maybe Peterson but I kind of doubt it but he is a wildcard. GO VOLS GET SERIOUS ABOUT A COACH!!!

The thing is a coach will only get three years that's why you got make a huge splash!!!

This is a valid concern IMO. I believe they are going to have plenty of money to go get this taken care of properly but it will be interesting to follow

It was nice watching Mora put a butt whippin' on Monte and his brat son Lane. I think Monte had to quit after that one , or face the embarrassment of being fired by the brat.

I CANNOT get past this:

"Right now, the money is there for him [Gruden], but they aren't as close as he would like for his assistants," one source said. "It could happen as soon as this weekend or go into next week, but he's pretty firm where he is and has already spoken with the guys he wants to be on the staff with him."

According to a different source, "He's told them they aren't close enough on money for the staff. He's very interested, but if they don't come up with what they need for the assistants, he's told them he's out." -- Stephen Hargis - TFP

Please explain this Mr. Hart.

Signed,
Season Ticket Holder

My non Gruden list went Mora, Stoops, Peterson, but don't think those guys are on the short list. I think it's Strong, Gundy, and Fedora. I just don't see them being anything but another slow growth project, if they can fight through gettin pummeled by the SEC the first year or two. Why is it always is that can never make the right calls.
