Scrolling on UTSports.com along with the Jones announcement are 2 gems:

1) Martin is the grand marshall of the Christmas parade

2) LV soccer finished 18th in RPI this year.

Is this really what UT athletics has become?

Not to be melodramatic, but this is so much more than just winning football games to me. I was ready for a new start for UT football. My kid is young and it was real important to me to take him to UT football games and have fun. Losing is not fun. You look around Knoxville the last three years and you see Bama, Florida, etc. flags. You go into Dick's and you see other team apparel. Some of the Tennessee sports stores on the Alabama border don't even have Tennessee stuff, just Alabama. I've done everything I can to keep my son from cheering from Alabama the last year.

This hire was going to dictate the next decade or so. Not only have they made a horrible decision for the now, but they have handicapped the program for the next decade because of the changing landscape of college football. If super conferences are the next thing, then 32 teams will be competing for the great players. With a mediocre coach, we will be left behind.

Not only have we lost our football program today, but we may have lost generations of Vol fans.

We have more in common than we do different. I am truly disappointed by this hire on so many levels. But I can't change it. If this truly was a case of Hart going overboard then I'm certain that will be handled in short order.

But I can't fault Butch Jones. He did nothing wrong. Me disparaging him and not cheering for the Vols makes his job harder. I want what you want - for Tennessee to win. Let's go with what we have until it's clear we need to go elsewhere. If that happens then Hart won't be around. Even if BJ is a success he may not be anyway.

If Hart went rogue, any chance the BOT doesn't sign of on this. Hart is very smart to release all this info, with it being so public, how can the BOT say no. If they do, they will have to fire Hart immediately.

Been lurking here in the Gruden threads for awhile now.

Thought the OG's were right on.

Somehow I don't think this has all played out yet.

Just a gut feeling.

Living in Fantasy Land maybe, but... well... we'll see.

Let's just see what he can do. I'm not happy with the hire either. I'm fine with those who want to make a statement in any way to the AD, but lets at least support the coach. When I heard I had that sick feeling in my stomach too and thought this was a joke, but Butch took the job when no one else would. For that he and the recruits that come to the University deserve a chance.

Kevin Sumlin was named when DD was hired.

Brian Kelly hired over Kiffin.

NO CHOICE NOW. SUPPORT HIM! (until he loses, then roast him)

Time to fire Hart, Cheek, and Martin. Skeeter said Cheek and Martin are the two biggest problems. According to Ainge, we had Butch Davis with an excellent staff and Cheek stopped it. My guess is Martin had a lot to do with this. Ainge confirmed my suspensions about the AD Compliance staff not wanting to work for their pay check. We have a bunch of Nancy's in the AD and they all need to go. Skeeter has said about as much also.

MARTIN and CHEEK are the two that need to receive a lot of pressure about this FUBAR situation.

Dude, it's an internet message board with a heading of " Tennessee Coaching Rumors and Speculation ". Grow up and get over it. I've been a Vol fan for almost 50 years and I'm not quitting because of a coaching hire. Yeah, I wanted Gruden ( badly ) and I'm disappointed in Hart's decision, but I'll learn to live with it.

Not sure what would be worse right now. Being Butch Jones or Dave Hart? Jones is about to get a ho hum welcome to Rocky Top and Hart is the most hated man in K'ville. Well, one good thing about it, I won't have to worry about recruiting this year. It will suck beyond imagination. Another great day to be a Vol
