Butch is obviously not the sharpest coach in the NCAA, but if he puts together a solid staff with people like Graham and Tee, then he will be successful. Assistants coaches are what define a coaching administration.

To paraphrase leonard little: to those threatening to take off the orange because your guy didn't get hired, do us all a favor and keep it off.

And do it quickly, you're an embarrassment.

Let's stop belly aching, and support our Football team. I wanted Gruden as much as anybody, but at least Butch WANTS to be here. He turned down other offers to come here when others leveraged us to get a raise. Butch at least has a better resume than Dooley. Until he is fired and we search for another coach (hopefully not for a looooong time) we should support him, not condemn him.

Thank you to the OG's. Thank you to Tennessee Fans and the Football players that are going to give their ALL for TENNESSEE! (Still dislike Hart)... but go VOLS! :dance2:

C'mon I dont want to hear BJ wants to be here...Dooley wanted to be here. They were all looking for a payday from a desperate university. I will support these kids and this program like I have my entire life, but I dont have to like the hire and buy into the "at least he wants to be here".

This was the best time I have ever had during a coaching search! Thank you to all who have posted info in an attempt to keep us informed. :thumbsup:

I'll support Coach Jones and hope for the best but I am even more convinced now that Hart needs to go. Fulmer for AD! :clapping:

This coach and this team will have my support because I will always love the Vols. Hart and he who shall not be named must go. (you know who I mean).

Again, sorry it all turned out to be wrong. To those that feel wronged or hurt because they bought into what I brought here.....I apologize.

Even if we ended up without Gruden I still thought we would have a hire we could all get excited about. This just isn't it. Is he better than Dooley? Of course, but that isn't our standard. We want the best.

Could he end up being great like some other lesser known people have have. Yes, and I hope he does. But that isn't what we need right now. I don't think we can afford to take that chance. This is UT! We shouldn't have to take chances with hires.

The sad thing is if he struggles next year people will fall away in a hurry because they already don't have a lot of faith. A bigger hire would have more time to get rolling. The only way I am going to get excited right away somewhat is by two things. 1) the staff he brings in 2) what does his recruiting class look like come Feb.

Those two things will say a lot immediately about him.

I appreciated all the posts and hope that this nightmare comes into print so we can all understand what has happened.
You're a man for getting on here from day 1 and more so now.
F*** everyone in this who doesn't feel pissed and let down and a bigger fu to those that like to say I told you so. The big picture is the decade decline in academics and that flow of idiocy into other aspects of UT.
We are now viewed not only as a second rate education but second tier football program. Good job UT, it takes a lot to screw up what once was a proud and respected brand both academically and athletically.

My fellow Grudenites, it's been fun. I have spend every ounce of my spare time in this thread, hoping against hope we'd landed the big fish. We didn't. As for the OG's, well, they kept my interest, I'll say that. Moving forward, though, I'll be much more skeptical of anybody on here claiming to have super secret inside sources. Of course, when you want to believe something (like Gruden) you'll grasp at just about anything. Oh well ... sorry for rambling. Sad to see this thread go. What a ride.
