I hope this guy can get a solid staff together! If he could get Steele that would be awesome!

Basillio has it right...he has to open the doors to former vol players immediately. Bring them in and use them. Keep them around as long as they want to be.

Would love to see some open practices as well.

I wish the guy all the best, like the rest of you, I feel a little sorry for him right now.

Correct, however they were incredibly lazy in their reporting. Hedging their bets instead of investigating, not really admirable or daring IMO.

If you had just listened to the media, the impression you would have gotten is that this coaching search was a complete cluster f***.

that's exactly what it turned out to be.

So I guess the media did their job in then end.

I think we should wait and see what we get out of recruiting, and the team next year before we go all nega-vol on Jones. I think we could have found a better fit but the man "wanted" to be here that's more than you can say about a lot of others. Don't envy him coming into this situation.

I believe Tennessee could be in serious trouble over this hire. I am soo unhappy right now. I was shocked at the text I got this morning was true. And gotta love the idiots bashing the grudenites. Do you take pride in our bad hire? You guys were right, no Gruden, now we can all enjoy losing together.... Morons. I would rather have Chaney just coach and fire Sal until we get our guy. Those $300 season tickets seem way overpriced now.

Delusion is the best option? Tell me how far that gets you in life sport.

If you really believe all the Gruden talk was delusional, you obviously didn't follow this coaching search at all.

And if I am delusional, I am quite pleased with just how far it has taken me.

Shoot for your dreams pal, maybe it can get you out of Mom's basement.

Guys, if you have been following this saga since Gruden I, you know that I have been saying Gruden coming to UT was a real possibility. I've been here for the highs and lows. I have been cautious- very cautious actually. I have very recently heard from several folks that I have been in contact with throughout this ordeal and others that have been getting information from different places. They have been scary accurate with what they have told me. I have complete trust in and respect for these individuals- great folks. They have been cautious as well. However, things have changed and for the better over the last two days. I got all that I needed, and in spite of my normal cautiousness, I'm with Lex, Boro, and all the other OG's that's gone all in:

WE GOT HIM!

I have nothing on a timeline. Not trying to be a jerk, but I don't care about a timeline. The most important item is that based on what I have been told, UT Football will soon have a man at the helm capable of resurrecting us from the ashes. It probably won't happen overnight, but we will shortly have someone worthy of our faith in the UT Football program. Before long, we will have a guy that is relentless in his pursuit of excellence. In summation, we will forthwith have a coach worthy of the title of Head Football Coach at The University of Tennesse. We have been down in the recent past- way down, but the worm is turning. The college football world (the SEC in particular) better prepare it's anus. Tennessee is coming back soon.....and hell's coming with us.

Haters, doubters, "real insiders", Dooley apologists, Duck Meat, or whoever, can keep on keeping on if that's your thing. I don't care what you think. Nothing can take away my immense joy at this moment because it would take a Myanesque apocalypse to prevent Jon Gruden from being the next head football coach at The University of Tennessee. As my dad used to say "If you're mad, might as well scratch your hind-end and get glad." It's done. Others can believe it or not.

I guess its over in a couple weeks

In play? Yes. To some- Fiscally responsible, hghly possible? Probably not.

Again, some are more committed than others.... The difference in ideals being between this Board and those who support the University. I'm afraid some tough conversations will be had in the coming days.

Any chance this Jone's thing never actually happens?

Agreed. If they open practices up I hope to see you guys out there bc I know I'll be there! I'm gonna try and support this guy as hard as it may be...
