None of us were going into the other possible coaches threads proclaiming how stupid the believers were for hoping. We'd still be here in our forum celebrating, which is how classy people handle their business. I highly doubt any of the naysayers would be in here taking their lumps like Boro, Jay, and others have done today.

We had high hopes for the Gru. . . and I know Butch is a good coach and has had success at Cinci. I actually feel bad for the guy for the situation he is in now. . . I mean what can he possibly do to win everyone over!?!?. . But what makes me mad is all the hype by Hart just before he drug us through this mess and made us laughing stocks, then finally landing with one of the few coaches that actually lost to Dooley. UT fans shouldn't have to say things like "Give him a chance" or "He will win me over if". . . We should and could be saying "Wow! lookout SEC!".... For too long we have gotten behind something we didn't totally believe in. . .Hopefully Butch will do great and have a successful career at UT, and I will back him starting now. . . I'm just tired of the "Hopefuls" and "could be" seasons. Hart is a let down!

It was all the hype from the liars on these websites that kept assuring everyone it would be Gruden.. Acting like they actually knew something..

If you think that we actually had a realistic shot at Gruden you are comical. It was speculation. You don't go from getting Jon Gruden, Super Bowl winner, to Butch Jones over night. You believed internet posters who heard rumors at a sports bar and followed blindly. They have facilities for people with mental problems.

It is comical that you think we didn't have a shot. It was really close to happening. If the guys in charge wanted to put the money up we would have him right now.

No, the other threads were speculation along the line of what would you think about (enter candidate)? This was a thread full of guarantees and we WILL have Jon Gruden as the next coach. Completely different, bub.

Basillio has it right...he has to open the doors to former vol players immediately. Bring them in and use them. Keep them around as long as they want to be.

Would love to see some open practices as well.

I wish the guy all the best, like the rest of you, I feel a little sorry for him right now.

I don't envy Butch when it comes to succeeding at his job. I think it will be all uphill for him, both ways as they say. However, $3 million a year should help soothe ole Butch.

As for UT fans, looks like this is what is in store for us. Or maybe already happening for us. We'll know if Troy asks UT to be their homecoming 'guest' shortly.

How many times has he had a chance? U can't deny that he's always had a very good record.. His multiple coach of the year awards are a testament to that.

I do, and I publicly posted that I didn't believe anyone 100%, whether they said it was Gruden 100% or that it wasn't 100%.

Integrity though, is being here to defend those who passed along information from credible sources who are just as miffed as we are. They were wrong, but they weren't trolls. The fact they won't jeopardize their sources livelihood so you guys can point and laugh, is the epitome of integrity.
