Right, which it was. Just felt they should have dug into the clusterf**k, maybe exposed the incompetence in this search, because it was incompetent. Seems like they just lapped it up.

And by media I mean the people like Hyams, Rucker, Hubbs etc, the people with official connections to the program.

Oh we'll it's done now so .... meh

If you think that we actually had a realistic shot at Gruden you are comical. It was speculation. You don't go from getting Jon Gruden, Super Bowl winner, to Butch Jones over night. You believed internet posters who heard rumors at a sports bar and followed blindly. They have facilities for people with mental problems.

I have to admit if I knew this was the outcome I would have been more on board with Strong. He is looking great right about now.

It didn't go my way, but I do believe it's suiting I remind all the people who wanted to thrash me for saying it wasn't going to happen. I wonder what you guys would've been saying had it happened? :crazy:

It depends on the definition of fiscal responsibility. I believe it is fiscally irresponsible to pay Butch Jones $3 million per year. Donations and season ticket sales will be the same if not lower. It is apparent the powers involved do not want to implement the Alabama business model.

Still 100% Gruden (or other home-run hire) until some other 3rd or 4th tier (overpaid and under achieving) smuck is introduced by Hart and Co. Apparently, the Athletic Department and big $$$$ boosters have lost touch with the rank and file Volunteer fans. Regardless of what happens in this hire, know this - Dave Hart does not bleed orange like most of us in this thread and around the VolNation! We need leadership that bleeds orange!

Go away Grudenite haters. We heard Gruden, Fedora, Strong, Gundy, Mora Jr and Butch Jones. Go big or go home.

That said, I am behind our new coach.

Knoxville media is just happy to get whatever bone the UTAD throws them.

At least the Chatanooga paper said something about missing out on Gruden.

For the record, I fully believed Gruden was a possibility at best and a long shot home run hire at worst. My main problem was always people saying things like "its a lock" and 100% done.

We had high hopes for the Gru. . . and I know Butch is a good coach and has had success at Cinci. I actually feel bad for the guy for the situation he is in now. . . I mean what can he possibly do to win everyone over!?!?. . But what makes me mad is all the hype by Hart just before he drug us through this mess and made us laughing stocks, then finally landing with one of the few coaches that actually lost to Dooley. UT fans shouldn't have to say things like "Give him a chance" or "He will win me over if". . . We should and could be saying "Wow! lookout SEC!".... For too long we have gotten behind something we didn't totally believe in. . .Hopefully Butch will do great and have a successful career at UT, and I will back him starting now. . . I'm just tired of the "Hopefuls" and "could be" seasons. Hart is a let down!
