Oh, yea! I was referring to the more physical style of play. Even the bottom of the SEC played close games against the top of the conference with physical play. Finesse and athleticism is crucial, but getting hit in the mouth evens the playing field somewhat. It keeps changing. Remember freedom of movement for the offense? Grabbing and holding don’t seem to be fouls anymore.
Pearl “let’s us just go out there and play our game.”
I’ve heard Pearl players say this at Auburn AND Tennessee over the years. Pearl works with controlled chaos…. Seems he needs more of a disciplined system to combat what the announcers called “developed bad habits.”
Way too many possessions tonight where Jabari didn’t even touch the ball.Pearl “let’s us just go out there and play our game.”

He deserves criticism for just letting Jabari jack up **** shots all night when he wasn’t on. Auburn’s success the last few years has been built around sharing the ball, creating havoc and solid to good but not star players. Jabari played for himself the last third of the year and it was on full display tonight. In 5 of their 6 losses he took 16 shots or more. He only took 16 or more shots in their 28 wins 1 time. Those 5 losses (and subsequent ball hoggery) all occurred in their last 11 games. Hard to say it’s coincidental. So does Pearl deserve criticism for losing in the 2nd round of the Tournament with Jabari Smith or does that only apply to Barnes?
