*OFFICIAL* March Madness Game Discussion Thread

Waco is an hour and a half from Dallas, man. I've driven it.

Waco is 90 miles from Dallas. Chattanooga is 112 miles from Knoxville. My uncle lives there and I spent many summers with him growing up. Sports media markets are larger than traditional media markets.

This is the NFL TV market map. Dallas covers most of Texas and Oklahoma for instance. gLdlN5ZmEc2jW3j4TTK81blDuh7FzbqACENMVEQVaaU.png

Lol. Nobody said a damn thing about the NFL. Clearly you‘re digging deep now to try to find some BS to support your incorrect argument.

Here are two links that contain details of the Dallas/Ft.Worth media market (It’s the 5th largest media market, but Waco isn’t in it. Check out #83 on the list.), and then another that discusses the Waco media market (Dallas/Ft. Worth isn’t in it).

Just admit you were FOS and move on.

Zion’s family got like a million dollar home and there’s no telling how much he was paid to attend Duke. John Wooden won 10 championships in 12 Final Four appearances. Coach K has won 5 out of 12 (now 13) appearances. It’s not really close.

Duke has gotten away with more under K than any program besides Wooden and UCLA. Kentucky cheats as much but they've been busted 6 or 7 times.

Duke used an ineligible player for their 2000 championship, most people thought they'd have to forfeit the title and all the games and money from that season but they got absolutely nothing, I don't think the NCAA even investigated it. The school just told them K didn't know that players were getting paid and the NCAA just went away.

You're looking at local TV station markets. Sports markets are different and cover much larger areas. I can't help it if you don't know that. Or are you going to claim that UT Sports are related to Knoxville only?

“L”? You actually don’t think that Dook gets special treatment? You can’t be serious.
I think ALL storied programs in the NCAA, NFL, NBA, and MLB get the breaks.

I think LeBron gets way more than his share and Brady is treated like porcelain.

I DON'T THINK THE SYSTEM IS CORRUPT. I think it's human nature to favor the "haves" over the "have nots" in everything.

We were talking about media markets - your statement. You made crap up and got called out on it. Now you won’t just man up and admit you were wrong. The NFL has absolutely nothing to do with media markets or college sports. I have also lived in Texas. Nobody outside of Waco gives a damn about Baylor.

I don’t think that anything in sports rivals NCAA basketball as far as being corrupt. Well maybe the Soviets in the 1972 Munich Olympics. At least Dook and UNC don’t get to keep doing their final plays over and over and over until they secure their wins. Once or twice maybe. Never 3x.

The fact that's 50 years ago and I was in Knoxville then is...... troubling to my hip.

You're delusional. Have a delusional night.

Duke didn’t win a title with Corey Maggette and Duke didn’t win a title in 99 or 2000. The $ came from an AAU Coach named Myron Piggies who gave $ to multiple NCAA basketball players. He has zero connection to Duke.

interesting
never have seen how market is divided

How did #3 pull this off? Specifically how did he not have to sit out a year when Moore transferred to DePaul?

I understand that he got a 6th year with the COVID rule and he could graduate and transfer to Miami. Maybe the free transfer rule has been in place for 3 years now (has it really been that long?) and since he sat out a year while going from Cal to Kansas he still got to use it one time when he went to DePaul. Weird landscape in NCAA player movements ATM. Yet they still get no relief if their coach decides to bail out on them.

Yea, I was born in Plano. The market that Waco is in may be big, but most of those people in DFW are Longhorn, Aggies, or Sooners fans. There isn’t a big market for Baylor outside Waco.

I want to give the AA some credit today. Scheduling todays games both with somewhat early tip offs is an extremely good decision. I hope TV ratings are good enough they try this with other big games as well.
Fast forward 8 days to the 9:23 EST tip off . I hate that they do that for the title game for basketball. And I really hate that they do that for CFP title game. No business playing that on a Monday night.

I’m pretty sure ratings on a Monday night are better than a Saturday night. People have more opportunity to do other things on Saturday nights.

True. I get that’s what drives it, but it always makes for a long Tuesday, at least for people on EST.

I don’t disagree, but I am in central time and most of the time, I don’t watch the end. I will be glad to be tired if it were Tennessee playing. But it’s all about ratings.
