Official Mike Gundy Thread I

What bothers me about Gundy being a choice for the job is his dedication to the OSU program if hired.
OSU is his Alma Mater, he played and coached there. He left for a few years, maybe five or six, only to return after that.
His heart is in OSU....
If we hire him away, he won't last. He will run back to his Alma Mater in a few years where his heart is.

So if we get Mike Gundy, can he at least declare hes a man for us just like he did at OSU, thats what put him on the map.

After spying on some OSU boards.. A lot of people there seem to think its more possible than we may think. Supposedly Gundy and the AD are butting heads. They for the most part seem to consider the UT job a top tier job and the OSU one a downgrade. The UT program has been referred to as a "sleeping giant" type of program.

Even though Boone may not be the wealthiest it appears to me he is the most generous with his money. That is all that matters when discussing this matter.

Unless we go back and add up all each party has given we really don't know who has given more. Pickens large gift where football received over $120 million was earmarked for facilities so it can't be used to retain Gundy.

OSU has an annual athletic budget of around 60 million and UT's is around over 100 million. If Hart wants Gundy and Gundy wants to come money should not be the issue. If it is that's On Hart.

His D record scares me & I don't think he'd be a great fit --and why would he Leave his alma mater?

They did let Les get away several years back. Just saying money isn't everything but even if it is the deciding factor I feel pretty good about our chances.

We do not need Gundy. Championships are won by playing great defense and being able to run the football on offense with a power running game. Gundy is all offense and no defense. Big 12 football will not work in the SEC. Why are we even interviewing this guy.

What coach did Gundy replace at OSU? Hows he worked out in the SEC? Think before you post.

that's what i'm afraid of too

if yall believe gundy will come into the SEC and just ignore playing defense, then youre crazy

it is absolutely beyond me how some of you guys think an offensive oriented coach cant win a championship. its simple. hire a great DC and get busy.

true, and Gundy has had the opportunity and ability to do that at OSU and hasn't. Either doesn't realize the importance of great D or recognize talent at DC.

A straight poker face through a solid interview followed by a hefty pay raise from T. Boone himself. Seriously, we have some rich donors, but dude is next level.

I wonder if our media people are scared of him, that he might call them out if they pound one of his players...I am sort of joking...Dooley's press conferences were usually entertaining on some level. Raises questions about the entertainment value factor of each coach.

The idea of Gundy being our coach, make me nauseous.

Keep in mind OSU's entire defensive staff is paid close to what Sal makes. I think their DC makes 400K. Gundy would be able to attract much better assistants here and would be in much better shape recruiting wise.
