Chaney is far from a "stud" OC. He is a good OC...not great by any means.

He leaves the defense too exposed with all the 3 and outs he produces. You need ball control to win in the SEC. Can't just throw it deep every play.

I'm all in for Gundy. He currently makes 3.25m and we can/should bump that up to 4.5m.

OC: Todd Monken
Assistant OC: Trooper Taylor
DC: Gene Chizik (I think we can all agree he is a top DC)

Exactly. I know we got high production from our offense, but I don't remember any must score possessions that were called or executed well. Our offense was capable of "excellence", and it only every manifested as "pretty good". Underachieving and inconsistent.

Only one losing season- first year. 4-2 in bowls. Fiesta bowl champs and two dividing titles. Impressive in my opinion. And has shown he can coach.

I honestly think Auburn will be cleared of the allegations against them. I don't really see a strong case.

Anyways, y'all see to forget Trooper did a great job as assistant OC and WR coach at Okie St. and Auburn.

Last year he was close to playing Alabama for the national championship. 12-1 the only loss on the road to a pretty good Iowa st. Team and a few days before the game there was a plane crash that killed the women's basketball coach and assistant and I think that effected the team and students. If he is the coach and brings in a big time Defensive cordinator could be a Great hire. Ron zook are Randy Shannon would do great here coaching the defense and recruiting.

Chaney is absolutely a stud OC, and the least of our problems. We scored the second most points in school history with a garbage defense that couldn't get off the field. What else is he supposed to do?

Well we could run the ball on 3rd and 1 instead of going deep and missing. Then having to punt after having the ball for less than 30 secs.

I never said he was a bad OC. Look at the successful teams in the SEC. None of them had a pass happy attack. All were either read option or pro style running teams.

Trooper is and always has been trouble. Even when he was here. Better to just stay away and let someone else take the sanctions.

I've been saying the same thing for a long time. WE don't want any part of Trooper Taylor. The guy is dirty and most likely we'll being hearing more about his trouble's in the next couple of months.

Again, at the end of the day his job is to score points, and we averaged over 36 per game. With even an average defense, Dooley is still here and Chaney is getting HC job offers at small schools right now. Not much else to say.

Judging by some reading ive done, Gundy and the AD and Pickens are having some issues. A lot of fans have commented on it.

I have stated in other threads who I would like to see get hired....Gundy is on top of that list...and I have brought up the idea of Butch Davis being the DC....not many, if any, D1 schools are falling over themselves to hire him as a HC, so why not offer him the DC job....he is a hell of a defensive minded coach....look what he did with the Cowboys and the U....just a thought

Chaney puts ups #'s when it doesn't matter, not during crunch time. We will never win championships when your OC has the QB throwing on every single 3rd and short. He constantly put our awful defense in bad spots. Every time our defense would make a stop and gain some momentum he would send our offense out and throw 3 straight bombs for a 3 and out or get 9 yards on 1st down only to throw for the next 2 downs to get a 3rd and out.

That is not how you win football games. Go watch Bama. 98% the things they do just plain makes sense and puts their guys in the best position to win football games. You don't have to get cute to win football games.

Hes got a great record against pitiful teams, woohoo.

So it only took Gundy 4 years to get to 9 wins. One of the 3 was a losing record and the other 2 were 7-6. Anyone really believe he'd ever get to the 6th to show us he can go 11-2?

I don't want Gundy or any other shoot it out offensive coach in this league.

11 players left or were kicked off the team his first season. I am worried about him though. He replaced Les Miles who got a better job for doing well at OSU. Gundy was already the OC as well so it's not like he had to step-in and make wholesale changes.

On the flip-side, one could argue that was his transition period and he was learning how to be a football coach. As we always said, TN isn't where you go to learn how to be a HC. However, Fulmer did quite well here after replacing Johnny with no head coaching experience.

An argument can be made from every angle I suppose. My biggest worry is high-octane offense with zero defense. If he toned it down a bit and got a stud DC maybe it could work like Meyer did at UF, I dunno.

OK State....81st ranked defense in the nation against the 11th ranked offensive schedule in nation....

Louisville played one team ranked in the top 30....Syracuse...got beat

I am not that concerned with the OSU defense. Most people on the OSU boards feel IF Gundy were to leave, the HC job would be offered to current OSU DC Bill Young. I am pretty sure most UT fans would see that as a good thing. Of course Hart could suggest a DC with SEC ties or at least point Gundy in the right direction.

Any school that offers Gundy a head coaching position would have to be willing to pay a $3 million buyout. (A source indicated Tennessee officials went through the protocol of informing OSU of an intent to contact Gundy, while Arkansas did not.)
