Peyton is simply getting his message out first. It was a PR game and Irsay didnt like being "beat to the punch". Irsay wanted to be the one in charge and PM didnt let him do it. Very unPeyton like but Im sure he's pissed.

Ever since Irsays bought the Colts they have been a "horse$hit" franchise EXCEPT when PM fell in their lap. I expect them and Luck to go right back there again. Luck has unbelieveable expectations on him (he only has to be one of the 10 greatest NFL QBs of all time to equal PM)

Imagine where the Jets would be today if PM had come out after his jr yr and Parcells had taken him? I imagine the Jets would be right with the Patriots in Super Bowl wins (they have been a playoff team minus a QB practically every year).

what ever, the owner is the al davis of football.
i own my business , i will never treat my best worker and money maker like this
if my best worker deserved to be treated poorly then i would understand, granted i dont make the millions as they do but it still applies.

The Colts owner is a joke. He is thinking he is bigger than he is. He owes everything to Peyton and Tony Dusly he team would obviously suck without Peyton. Show some class. If you have to cut him then that's one thing. But don't trash the guy who built your franchise almost singlehandely.

Dude it's strictly business. Yes it's nice to be rewarded for hard work but it's not required. He owes them nothing. They agreed to the contract they wanted. They could have easily left but didn't. How many teams don't resign players who have been with that one team for their careers? A lot. Latest example, Keith Bulluck of Titans. Players don't look atthe Owners when choosing a team other than the Al Davis.

Irsay paid PM $25 million to stand on the sidelines this year. I think the "poor Peyton" routine is comical.

You ever pay your best employee 26 million is one year knowing he could not do any work? Irsay did.

And if that's being treated poorly then I hope my boss treats me poorly once in my lifetime. So I ask again, have you ever paid one of your employees, more than anyone else in the world at his position knowing he would not do anything all year?

Spot on! Welcome to VN! :hi:

Peyton can't sit back and let Irsay act as though he's the judge and jury on whether Peyton will ever be healthy enough to play again. Irsay's decision is simple. He either pays PM a small fraction of the money PM made for him (the Colts clearly suck without Peyton... 2-14) or he releases him.

He doesn't need to try to trash Peyton's value to other teams in the process by pretending its all about his health. And, the fortune he's made off of PM's play on the field doesn't give him exclusive rights to the media. In fact, if both held a press conference at the same time, I'm guessing Peyton draws the bigger crowd... and without the PM decision he's currently making, who really cares what Irsay has to say to anyone.

Irsay is a control freak, loser, jmo, imo, twiw.

Having said that, I have no objection to PM's teats. :hi:

Really, of all the pro Ath. out there, I believee Payton Manning is very capable of taking care of himself.

He reminds me of that owner on Horrible Bosses who just cokes it up and runs the business into the ground. Let's be for real he didn't have to do except take cash for the colts and sit back and watch the show since 2002. So really he is incompetent. This guy has no idea how to run a franchise.

Totally agree. I suspect Irsay will either find a hole and shut his trap until he has something worth saying or PM will make him the poster child for losers who own sports teams.

The contract was signed knowing he would not play this year, so this terrible guy paid Peyton 26 million knowing he would not take a snap this year. How many other owners would have done that? You may have given up "some pretty good chunks" but I guarantee you didn't knowing an employee could not work for an entire year.

Even if your best worker can't work for an entire year and is VERY suspect on if he'll ever be able to work again, much less work to the caliber that you're paying him at? Business is business, friend.

I understand what Irsay was saying - he thought it should be kept "in house". However, he should have kept that comment in house and discussed with Peyton only instead of saying it publicly. He did the same thing Peyton did, so they are even ;-)

Seriously though, I hope Peyton stays with the Colts. He is the only reason I became a Colts fan. Will be hard without him under center - as this year certainly proved.
