Hubby and I said screw Comcast and switched to DirecTV! Well worth it and cheaper per month. More HD channels as well.:)

I left charter and went to DIRECTV and have been very pleased however they don't have a contract with the SEC network yet either but I have been emailing and sending Twitter messages every chance I get to them and I'm finally getting some response from them. DIRECTV told me the other day that they were just now entering negotiations with the SEC network. I think they know they will lose all kinds of business to Dish if they don't get it

I am going to DISH if Direct does not pick the network up, Dish does not carry the NFL package that's why I switched in the first place, rather have the SEC NETWORK than the NFL package.

So Direct is talking with the SEC NETWORK now, hate to lose the NFL package each SUNDAY but I will if that's what it takes.

the 5 major companies(Comcast,Dish,DTV,Uverse,Charter) will get it...there may be 1 that waits a week or 2 into the season, trying to play hardball in negotiations and get a better price...

the ones that wait that long will lose they a$$

DON'T WAIT UNTIL JULY TO SWITCH!!

You'll never get a tech to your house in time to install as they'll likely be overwhelmed by the droves of people leaving their cable service.

I don't see DISH NETWORK vehicles in my area. Plenty of Brighthouse, Verizon and a few DirectTV vans.... I wonder if Dish Network is contracted in my area??? If so that worries me about SERVICE !!!!! Do any Manatee or Sarasota County VN's have any input on DISH NETWORK?

It may be overly optimistic to think the cable companies will get it by August. I remember a lot of Thursday NFL games that I did not watch, because Charter could make no money on the NFL Network. The cable companies are businesses. When they are offered a profitable package, they will deal. Until then, they will let ESPN and the universities eat their investments. From what I've heard about the UT TV studio, there are big bucks going into this endeavor. Once the companies sign on, they lose their leverage.

DISH has picked up both SEC and the LONGHORN network..

Direct TV has been playing too many power games lately. The weather channel fiasco for example. I'm giving them till the beginning of July and I'm done. I think DISH is going to get a lot of business in the SOUTH (considering Charter, DTV and Comcast are not carrying it) and I don't want to be put on some long waiting list.

Honestly I wouldn't worry about DirecTV, they are probably negotiating. They would be idiots not to pick this up.

That is excellent advice

I have never had anything ever other than Comcast. Sick of their customer service and raising prices...so I made the switch last Monday. Switched to ATT Uverse and got a great price price for a year locked in......and won't have to worry about the SEC channel. After a year.....I hope I like it so much I will keep it. But if they play the games that Comcast does....then I can go back to Comcast at an introductory price and I'm sure they will have SEC them too.

I've had dish for years. The price is great in comparison to others and I never have any problems with them. Another cool thing is that I get free random movie channels for a week each month. No need to buy movie channels because they play the same crap all month usually anyway.

Anyone else have them and notice the free movie channels every month? I found out on accident

I have TDS Fiber Optic in Knoxville and figured I would be out of luck for the SECNetwork. I was actually considering adding DISH, but it looks like I'm going to get it after all. Just ran across this gem:

Scott Petriskie ‏@Spetrisk May 1
@tdstelecom please let me enjoy at @SECNetwork when it launches in August 2014! Get the SEC Network

TDS Telecom ‏@tdstelecom 13h
@Spetrisk @SECNetwork We have plans to have this available in August, no set date as of yet though. Thank you. ~Tony
