Official Seed List Watch Party Thread

Agreed. We really need to bring our A game today. Ole Miss played us really tough in Oxford. They’re going to be hungry and we can’t afford to lose to a bad team. Hope we put the game away early.
Yea in these types of games it feels like if you start out well the other team is likely to fold, they realize they’re the underdogs without a head coach and their season is over. How we you let them hang around and they start to feel it a bit and like they can do something.

Normally, I’d say tournament wins equal .10 wins vs regular season wins . With losing 6/10, losing ZZ, getting a low tournament seed, I think it would be easy for the committee to punish us for an early exit. Not landing at 5 is really important. I think winning two puts us into a strong possibility for a 3. One win is playing with fire. Zero gets us on the bad side of a 4. Obviously endless variables, but we’re walking the tightrope.
They’re hungry but after the lackluster end to our season we should be coming into this with a chip on our shoulder as well. I think Barnes will have us ready to go for the SEC tourney. He usually does.

Todays games to watch:
12:00pm: St. John’s vs. Marquette
12:00pm: Wake Forest vs. Miami
12:30pm: Iowa State vs. Baylor
2:30pm: Providence vs. Connecticut
3:00pm: Colorado State vs. San Diego State
7:00pm: North Carolina vs. Virginia
7:00pm: DePaul vs. Xavier
9:30pm: TCU vs. Kansas State

Big East tournament is very important. Really hoping Providence knocks off UConn. If UConn wins that and then beats Marquette, I think both them and Marquette get 3's (along with K-State and Gonzaga) unless we were to beat Bama. Then again, it could be like last year where the committee paid no attention to the conference tournaments.

Working from home today just so I can have games on in the background!

I love March Madness :D

Exactly. We need to punch them in the mouth right out of the gate. Letting them hang around and gain confidence will not bode well.

I’ve been seeing quite a few of these videos and tweets this week with selection explanation graphics. I don’t remember these being a thing until this year. If this is new, I appreciate the insight the committee is trying to give to selecting the teams, but considering they say by the end of today 30 of the at large teams will have been selected, it just kind of gives further credence to the idea that conference tournaments don’t really matter unless a major upset occurs.

I don’t disagree about conference tournaments not mattering much, but how is that statement evidence of that? 30 teams essentially means seeds 1-8, that those teams are in regardless of a 1st game conference tournament loss, that doesn’t seem like a crazy statement. I’m really you’ve probably damn near 40 teams after today that are in.

Looking like 0-3 to start. Woof

Nope. Really feeling like we should make peace with being a four seed at best

Feels that way. I keep hearing about how crazy this tournament season will be but at least in conference tournament so far it’s favorites winning fairly handily.

We won too, and were the last 3 seed on matrix coming into the day, I don’t think losing dropped us. Today didn’t lock us into a 3, eliminated a 5 imo, but 3/4 very much in play.

Would beating Missouri sneak us into a 3 seed?

Yeah, I know we’re still a 3 on bracketmatrix, but I would guess that the committee doesn’t have us as a three rn. They had us lower than expected in their initial 16 they revealed, and I feel like they’re going to dock us more for losing Z than a lot of online brackets have. Plus, with how our conference tourney is scheduled, even if we do go on a run, it won’t be rewarded

Kind of how I feel, too. I’m thinking we’re going to be a 4-seed no matter what happens. Although UNC beating Virginia tonight could help. I’m just not sure how much I think the committee will change the seeds. They already said today they seeded the 1’s and 2’s.

Wow. That's quite an admission

We weren’t catching Baylor imo and small chance Iowa State could catch us.
I guess maybe it doesn't matter, but I see no way ISU catches us, really. Meanwhile, we are well ahead of Baylor in every metric (KenPom, NET, TeamRankings, BPI). We may not catch them on the seed line, but it feels more likely that ISU catching us.

I originally had left that game off because as you’re saying likely not a factor either way, but ISU running through B12 and winning it all I don’t see as a great thing.

In the interview I listens to, their spokesperson said “things could change” but it felt more like just a CYA thing to add on. He said they had to start putting the bracket together but that the first 8 teams (1s and 2s) were already seeded.

Tennessee has been a 3 for last two or three weeks if they beat Missouri they should stay in that spot and if they can beat Bama again should be the number 2 three in tourney with the resume with or without ZZ
