Official Thread of the St. Louis Cardinals

Slumps are part of it but they've looked flat out awful since the beginning of that series in Milwaukee.

I freakin love Mike Shannon.

When asked on Outside the Lines about the Cardinals' chances in the division without Pujols, "I can live without Pujols for a month. What I can't live without is another righthander and lefthander in the bullpen. My bullpen can't be giving up 9 runs in the 7th inning."

Pumped about Saturday night. Shelby Miller will face the Arkansas Travelers who won the first half north division championship. It will be worth the price of admission when number 26 looks at the Angels top minor leaguer Mike Trout.

Looking forward to seeing RHP Carlos Martinez make his Springfield (AA) debut later this season.

Last year's number one (Zach Cox) has made a favorable first impression in AA as the every day starter at the hot corner.

Albert's broken bone might be a blessing in disguise for both sides. If the team can weather his absence he'll be less attractive to other teams in November, command a lower asking price and be rested for the stretch run.

Miller pitched as well as possible this evening. Tulsa turned his one mistake into the only two runs of the game (HR). Miller even singled up the middle before leaving the game after six innings and fanning eight on eighty-one pitches with just three hits allowed. I wouldn't be surprised to see him in Memphis in August.

My son and I were discussing Pujols injury rehabilitation assignment in late July, early August. The big birds usually send their guys to Springfield for a few games to knock off the rust. Second baseman Nick Punto is currently in town while recovering from a right forearm strain. The team is at home the last week of July and second week of August.

Jesus christ, it took this long? What kind of **** show are they running up there?

I have no idea. He couldnt even handle the role of innings eater if we were getting blown out. Larussa wouldn't even pitch him at home. But, apparently he was a good guy in the bullpen to help out the young guys so they kept him around for that.

I wasn't even happy. It was like seeing that old dog put down who needed it to happen a year ago. I got to the point I felt sorry for him when he took the mound.

Time to let the Cubs find out the expensive way? If his agent asks for more than a three year deal or close to 30 mil per I'd tell him happy trails. His actual age is a mystery, he's projected to have his worst year in the big league's and could be trade bait (if and only if) the team falls out of wild card contention before Labor day.
