Official Thread of the St. Louis Cardinals

Could be wrong but I don't think walking him was the initial intention, but then after you get into a hitters count with a guy that is batting .320 vs RHP this year and is 3-6 career vs. you I understood it.

I don't think it was intentional. He was definitely pitching around him though.

Kind of starting to wonder what the record is for most RISP in extra innings is without scoring any runs. Both teams keep putting runners on only to get nothing

Freese still looking like the odd man out long term.

With Taveras' surgery, anyone else think Mozeliak may re-sign Beltran for another year?

Beltran wants 3 years. Mozeliak wants him back but I don't think he wants to commit that many years to him.

I'd hope not. I remember Mozeliak saying he wouldn't automatically rule out another contract with Beltran. But never gave anything more than that.

If they believe in Adams, I say move Craig to the outfield and play Adams at first.

Taveras and Wong......no obvious fixes for them yet I guess. Just ideas. But Taveras' ankle surgery buys more time.

Adams should be the main man at 1B next year with Craig in the outfield.

Nothing against Adams, but it seems like the last thing the Cardinals need is another regular that struggles against LHP. Granted Beltran hasn't been too hot against lefties this year so there won't be that much dropoff in that regard.

Interesting fact. All but 5 players on the roster came through the Cards minor league system. That's impressive.

STL isn't a small market but it doesn't freespend like New York, Boston, and Chicago. Granted, most franchises can't freespend anyway.STL puts more emphasis on development through its farm system than any other franchise, and it shows why the club has been successful. They don't have the luxury of throwing money around like the Yankees, unfortunately.

I'll take Mozeliak over any GM in baseball.

All that's true, right now. It wasn't long ago that we did anything and everything through free agents and trades. It used to be a win now process and we had one of the worst farm systems in the last 10 years.
