Official Thread of the St. Louis Cardinals

Cards take the game 6-1 and two outta three from the Rockies. Three out of their last four wins have had a 6-1 final score. Weird.

Solid outing by Suppan. 6 innings, 1 run.

Good days at the plate by Edmonds, Rodriguez, and even Bennett and Miles.

Four game series in Chicago starting tomorrow night on ESPN.

58-42

Jeff Weaver (1-1, 6.52) vs. Rich Hill (0-4, 9.31) tonight at 7CST on ESPN.

Cardinals are 3-9 vs. the Cubs this season.

Yeah, not so

Should be exciting with those two pitchers.

I say should, because Hill will probably pitch a complete game two hitter, just to go against his numbers and to stay in line with the Cubs' domination of the Cards.

Cards lose the series opener 5-4.

Weaver wasn't dreadful, but nothing to write home about either. Allowed 4 runs in 5 and 2/3rds. Tyler Johnson came in and allowed 2 of those inherited runs. Johnson's line for the night: 0 innings, 1 hit, 2 walks, 1 run. Beautiful. Rolen also had a fairly key error in that inning on a bad hop.

Encarnacion had another good night at the plate. 3-5 with a HR and 3 RBI. Really swingin' it well lately.

58-43

Marquis is due for a bad start... he seems to alternate between being great and being terrible. Last start was great.

And the Cardinals go down 1-2-3 in the first. This game is over.

Pierre, Walker, and Barrett to lead off for the Cubs.

Leadoff double by Pierre, Walker flies out, Bennett forgets where he is and allows a passed ball moving Pierre up down to third, Barrett grounds out, and Ramirez grounds out to end the inning.

Rolen, Encarnacion, Edmonds in the second.

The second coming of Pedro frickin Martinez Carlos Marmol strikes out the side in the second inning. Mixed in there was a ground rule double by Edmonds.

Lead off single by Jones, Mabry flies out, and Pagan grounds into the inning-ending double play. 8 pitch inning for Marquis, nice.

Bennett and Marquis walked to lead off the 3rd, and Eckstein tried his best to ground into a triple play, but instead it was just a routine fielder's choice. Bennett out at third, Ramirez' throw gets away and Marquis came around to score. Duncan grounded out advancing Eckstein to third, Pujols doubled him home, and Rolen struck out to end the inning.

2-0 good guys.

Alright, lets watch some baseball. I'd love to be at an afternoon game at Wrigley right now.

Encarnacion walked, stole second, advanced to third on Edmonds' fly out to right, and scored on Luna's single to center. Luna thrown out at second, Bennett walks again, and Marquis grounds out to end the inning.

3-0 good guys

Let's finish it today guys. Not letting them bat around would be a start.

Walker doubled to lead off the inning, advanced to third on Barrett's groundout. Ramirez tripled to right scoring Walker, Jones grounded out, Mabry homered to left, Pagan singled, Cedeno singled, Marmol safe at first on Rolen's second error in as many games, Juan Pierre triples everyone home.

6-3 Cubs. Inning still not over by the way.

I'm certain bad baseball is contagious. No one, especially the Cards, plays worth a crap against the Cubs. Unreal.

For as good as he's been at the plate lately, Encarnacion is a frickin' trip in right field. I can't imagine how he looked on that Ramirez triple.

Eckstein flies out, Duncan walks, Pujols pops up to shallow center, and Rolen flies out to left.

Ramirez, Jones, Mabry in the bottom half for the Cubs.

Marmol walked Encarnacion and Luna. Novoa on to pitch for the Cubs. Bennett GIDP to end the inning.

Bottom of the order for the Cubs in the bottom half.
