Official Thread of the St. Louis Cardinals

Single by Pagan, all for the Cubs.

Rodriguez pinch hitting for Kinney in the 7th. Eckstein and Duncan to follow.

JRod strikes out, Eckstein and Duncan single, Pujols struck out, Rolen hit by pitch, Encarnacion doubles home two runs, Eyre replaces Novoa o the mound, Edmonds strikes out to end the inning.

6-5 Cubs going into the stretch.

Looper gets the first two outs, then they brilliantly have him retaliate for Rolen getting hit by plunking Ramirez. I imagine that's what provoked it, anyway. Either way, Jones followed that up with a single. I hope Murton hits a homerun right now.

But instead he grounds into a fielder's choice. I'll take that too.

Bottom of the order for the Cards in the 8th.

Pagan with a bunt hit, Cedeno sacrifices him to second, Nevin reaches on a fielder's choice that apparetly no one made an out on, Pierre walks, Walker GIDP to end the inning finally.

Eckstein, Looper's spot, and Pujols in the 9th for the Cards.

Eckstein grounds out, Miles pinch hits and does his thing by hitting a screaming dribbler to the pitcher, annd Pujols makes the last out.

6-5 Cubs. Cards cannot beat the Cubs.

Another good offensive day at least for Encarnacion.

58-44

Pujols singled, stole second, and scored on Rolen's single. Encarnacion follows with a single and Edmonds strikes out to end the inning.

1-0 good guys.

Let's see how fast Reyes blows it.

Not that inning at least. Hit Barrett and walked Ramirez with two outs, but got out of it thanks to Yadi picking Barrett off at 2nd base.

Bottom of the order for the Cards in the 2nd.

Pretty quick.

Mabry walks, Pagan singled, Cedeno singled home Mabry. Pagan stole home. It's over.

2-1 Cubs

Top of the order for the Cards in the 3rd.

A Taguchi single is all the Cards got in the 3rd, and he ended the inning trying to steal.

Perez, Barrett, Ramirez to face Reyes in the Cubs' half.

A walk to Ramirez is all the Cubs managed in the 3rd.

Rolen, Encarnacion, Edmonds in the 4th for the Cards.

Mabry safe at first on Luna's throwing error, Reyes gets the next three out.

Bottom of the order for the Cards in the 5th.

Another 1-2-3 inning for Maddux.

Pierre leads off the bottom half with a triple to right... one can only imagine the adventure Encarnacion had out there tip-toeing around tyring to run down the ball.

Barrett doubles home Pierre, Reyes clearly scared to death of Ramirez walks him for the 3rd straight time, and Jones GIDP to end the inning.

Top of the order for the Cards in the 6th.

3-1 bad guys

Yet another 1-2-3 inning for Greg Maddux.

You could put Cubs uniforms on little leaguers and the Cardinals couldn't beat them.

Lead off walk to Mabry in the 6th. Awesome.

I gotta go somewhere. I'll be back later to recap the Cubs win, I suppose.

Chris Carpenter (10-4, 2.68) vs. Carlos Zambrano (11-3, 3.27) today at 1:20CST on WGN. Matchup of the Cy Young favorites in the NL.

Cubs take the game 6-3 and the series 4-0

St. Louis has yet to win a game in Chicago this season, 0-7 vs. the Cubs, 0-3 vs. the White Sox.

I feel my theory about bad baseball being contagious has been proven. The Cardinals have committed 56 errors this season in 104 games, and 15 of those errors have came against the Cubs in 13 games. Furthering that theory, Carpenter pitched like crap in the first two innings today losing his first game of the month.

58-46
