Official Thread of the St. Louis Cardinals

I'm not buying the Tulo stuff as much as Price. I think we'll make a serious run at Price and then if that fails, make a run at Peavy or Kennedy. My prediction though is that we'll get a RH reliever at the deadline.

I can see some interest in Price maybe, but same as last year, I don't want us to give up some young actual talent the Cards believe in for someone that's past their prime.

Price would be worth pursuing, but I don't know what the Rays are looking for or even if they're realistically interested in trading him. Peavy? I'l pass.

Well the Tulo rumors are now dead as he is back on the DL. I can't imagine not having Matt Adams had we actually dealt him and Miller last season for Tulo. Yes, we could have moved Craig to 1B, and used Jay in CF and Taveras in RF, but Adams has been huge for us this season when he has been healthy.

"He(Price) could be a disaster in the playoffs in a Cardinals uniform. Anything’s possible. But his shoddy postseason numbers represent a very tiny sample size (32 innings), and it’s reasonable to believe his larger body of work (3.03 ERA in 986 1/3 innings in his past five seasons) is good enough to roll the October dice going forward. The possibility of having four games of every seven-game playoff series in 2014-15 started by either Wainwright or Price has to be intoxicating for the St. Louis front office."

Not for Taveras. I don't see that Cards trading him for someone that might only be in St Louis for 1 and a half seasons.

At least I hope not. I want Taveras to stay.

Taveras is only traded if they get a long term commitment from Price, and that's if a trade actually happens. That's how the Cardinals landed Holliday. He gave them a long-term commitment.

I wonder if Tampa will accept Piscotty instead? Obviously our OF is crowded, but losing Taveras would be huge. He has been criticized for not hitting well, but he really has not had that many at-bats. Garcia is more than likely done as a Cardinal. Adding Price along with Wacha returning from injury would create a deadly rotation. I wouldn't even be upset if we traded Piscotty only to get 2 seasons out of Price.

I tune into the radio broadcast and listen as we take an early 3-0 lead. Come home to make dinner and now it's tied 3-3. Come on, Kelly

I was rooting for Cruz to keep the job. I realize it had to be done. It's a low-risk, high-upside move. A.J.'s pretension annoys me, nonetheless

Looks like moving Miller to the bullpen long enough for him to shake some demons off paid off. Adams continues to be the cornerstone of our offense. I'd like to see Monzy go after another RP. Because we are not getting the quality starts that we need, our bullpen keeps getting exposed.

5.51 ERA ain't help....

We were running a 4 man rotation for the past few weeks. Wacha is out until September, Garcia is probably done, Martinez and Gonzalez aren't ready to be big-league starters yet, Lyons flat out isn't good. Taking a chance on Masterson could turn out to be like acquiring Weaver, Pineiro, or Westbrook did - especially since he was an All Star last year.

And even then, they may not be done yet. Mozeliak knows what he's doing.

Mo knows what he's doing. Barely gave up anything for Masterson. Besides, he goes from a team with a -39 DRS to a +35 DRS. Only thing I don't like about him is his 12.4% walk rate. Besides, like UTC said, a lot of mediocre or struggling pitchers have gone to STL and played well. Edwin Jackson too.

And Mo may not be done either. He still has all his chips. Ramsey was likely never going to move up in the organization as stacked as the OF is at the moment.
