Official Thread of the St. Louis Cardinals

Cardinals take the series finale 9-4.

Pujols 2-4.

No starting pitcher for the Cards today... a series of relievers got it done. Adam Wainwright hit a homerun in his first major league at bat. He's a frickin' relief pitcher.

31-16

Cards basically PUNK'D by the Padres in their series opener, 7-1.

Suppan lit up for all 7 runs.

Pujols 1-2 with an RBI single. Intentional walk and he got hit by a pitch.

31-17

Cardinals take game two of the series 4-3.

Pujols 0-4 with an intentional walk.

It's always an adventure with Isringhausen in the 9th. Allowed a hit, walked a guy, finally got two outs and Molina takes matters into his own hands, picking Brain Giles off of first base after a pitch to end the game.

Ponson pitched well again.

32-17

Cards lose again to the Padres 10-8.

Mark Mulder is a disgrace to the pitching mound. WHO gives up 8 runs to the Padres? How pathetic.

Pujols 1-4 with #24. 3 run bomb.

32-18

Cardinals win the series opening against the Astros 3-1.

Pujols 1-4 with #25... three-run, game-winner in the bottom of the 7th. 25 HR and 64 RBI.

Marquis pitched well again. About time for him to hit another rough stretch.

33-18

Cardinals fall 6-3 to the Astros.

5 run 7th for Houston.

Screw Houston!

Pujols 1-3 with a single and a walk.

33-19.

Cardinals win 4-3 in 11 innings.

Taguchi with the game winning RBI single.

Pujols 1-3 with a single and two walks.

Suppan did alright and a great day for the bullpen. 6 scoreless innings.

34-19

Cards lose their first home series of the year... to the god-awful Cubs. 8-5.

Mulder pitched like Mulder yet again giving up 5 earned runs, 8 overall, thanks to 3 errors.

Pujols is injured. Strained oblique.

Yadier Molina is gettin' it going finally. 2-4 today with 3 RBI and the batting average is up over .200 at .203. Not bad considering it was .165 a few days ago.

34-21

Hey hey, the Cardinals beat the Cubs! 9-6

Good sign for the offense since Pujols is done for about 2 months. Taguchi, Rolen, and Edmonds all had good days.

Marquis pitched like crap but they managed to overcome it today.

35-21 (1-0 sans-Pujols)

It is officially time to CAN, CUT, MAIM, KILL, and DISMEBODY Jasin Isringhausen.

Here's his beautiful line tonight: 1/3rd of an inning pitched, 2 hits, 2 walks, a wild pitch, and oh yeah, the three run, game-winning homerun.

You suck Isringhausen.

8-7, Isinghausen loses.

35-22 in spite of not having a closer (1-1 sans-Pujols)

If there is a petition to sign to get rid of this waste of roster space, I'm there!

Cardinals lose their second straight home series after not losing one all year. 7-0 Reds win.

Carpenter gives up 3 runs in 5 innings in his return start.

35-23 (1-2 sans-Pujols)

Cards get SWEPT by the Reds. 7-4. The wheels are officially falling off.

Ponson had his worst start of the year, giving up 5 runs.

Rolen and Edmonds are doing their part... pitching is gonna have to be better than this.

35-24 (1-3 sans-Pujols) and now tied for 1st in the division with the Reds.

Cards come from 6 down to win the series opener in Milwaukee 10-6.

Isringhausen actually went one and a third without giving up a hit or walk to close it out!

36-24 (2-4 minus Pujols) and .5 ahead of the Reds in the division if my sketchy math is correct.

Cards lose 4-3 to the Brewers.

Marquis pitched well, 2 runs over 6 innings, and the bullpen proceeded to give up 3 walks, a HBP, and 3 hits in 2 innings and the two deciding runs.

36-25 (2-5 minus Pujols)

Cards take the series finale and the series with a 7-5 win.

After another piss-poor outing by Suppan, the bullpen shut'em down giving up only 1 hit over 5 innings.

37-25 (3-5 minus Pujols)

Cardinals take the series opener from the Pirates 2-1.

Carpenter goes 7 innings striking out 13 and only giving up 3 hits.

Rolen 4-4 with an RBI, now batting .351.

Despite Isringhausen's best efforts to blow another save... he didn't. Only gave up 2 hits and 1 run this time.

38-25 (4-5 without Pujols)

Cardinals lose game two of the series 9-7.

Ponson pretty much got pounded.

Rolen is on fire which he has to be and Encarnacion actually shwoed up.

38-26 (4-6 w/o AP)
