Official VN "Eat Crow" Thread

You'll never show up.

Your reverse psychology is unneeded. Sure I will. I just admitted I was wrong in the NCAA forum and have done so on several occasions. If Tennessee has a good season I will admit my inaccurate prediction. No one else may, especially the people that refuse to use reality as a basis for their ideas.

Come on, Ron. You know that those that doubt Dooley are devoid of honesty, integrity, and/or responsibilty. No way you'll do what you say.....

We need a sarcasm font in the worst way.

96 and 2011 are very comparable seasons if you take out the fact that we almost won as many games in 96 as DD has won in 2 years at UT. So keep trying to make excuses and keep looking dumb. But the reality is questioning a coach is not even cloe to the same thing as bad mouthing the team. All of us hope UT wins every game from now until the end of time. Some of you are confused. Y'all think the coach is the program and some act as if he's bigger than the program.

Wait..does that mean we have to take the statue down?:loco:

To all that say 8 should be automatic and it will take 9 to 10 wins to prove he is capable, what players do you feel will also need to step up to make this happen and what if by chance there is an injury, what player do you feel will have the most impact if injury was to happen?

Bray is the no brainer answer but besides him what other player needs to be injury free this year for us to see the success we desire

Linebackers

Lathers will be the leader at LB, for me he is the one in that group that needs to stay healthy.

Don't kid yourself. The whole unit needs to stay healthy. If it does, it should be the best we've seen in many years.

I love how the negative posters are saying things like, "I won't have to eat crow unless this team wins at least 9 or 10 games." As if winning only 8 games in this conference truly is automatic. They think Nc State and Ms State will be total pushovers. They want to reserve the right to complain, and then set the bar so high that success is near impossible, so they can still reserve the right to complain. Well, enjoy because I want no part of that attitude, personally. Go Dooley and go Big Orange!

What a surprise. Another poster who doesn't wanna hold DD to any standard.

The problem with this thread is everyone has a different expectation of what success is. And in my opinion, to really prove that he is capable to getting it done, he needs to beat some teams that have an edge in talent. 8 wins is just treading water, 9-10 wins shows some sort of competitive coaching prowess.

By the way, lol at the posters who say they'll serve crow in this thread after beating NCST. I'm glad beating a middle of the pack ACC team is some sort of accomplishment in your eyes.

Picked to win the ACC by some publications and were in the initial ESPN Top 25. Have since dropped out, but are still a pretty good time. Not an automatic win.

No doubt the group as a whole needs to stay healthy but if I had to narrow it down to one player at LB, I would go with Lathers.

As opposed to the poster who wants to say, " I know he inherited a high school team, in the toughest conference in the world, but I expect him to compete for National titles w/in 3 years."

Yep that's what all of us have said. How dare we expect our coach to compete at all. We now have accept not beating the power house that is NC St.

If you guys really won't be impressed unless Dooley pulls off 9 or 10 wins with our schedule this year, then you must really think that he's done an unbelievable job recruiting over the last few years, because he sure didn't inherit a 9 or 10 win roster.

I do to. UT has sucked for too long.

I think there is an extremely small number that just doesnt like him for whatever reason. And a extremely small number tha like him no matter what.

The rest hope he does well but are divided by whether they think he will. But they get stuck in one of the groups above by the broad brush idea.

Since the season is just around the corner, I would like to make the Official VN "Eat Crow" Thread

This is for all the Negative Nancies, Debbie Downers, and other people who talk crap about those of us who support the coach and the team. The ones that use words like Doolander, Doolaider, Doolite, Dools, Doolops, Doobers, Doolickers, Doolholes, Doolkins, and whatever other word they can come up with

This is your thread. This is for you to talk all the negative crap you want about the coach and the team.

This is where we will come back to when the season is over so we can feed you all the Southern Fried Crow plates you can eat

You can have Crow and Waffles if ou want. All you can eat. Served with a nice side of kiss my ass.

Maybe the mods will even sticky it, so we can enjoy it throughout the season, so you cant come back and rejoice with the rest of us, proclaiming you knew all the time but you were just tempering your emotions so that you wouldnt be disappointed at the end of the season.

Get on now, or prepare your palate

Its Almost FOOTBALL TIME IN TENNESSEE

GO VOLS!!!!!

WOO!!!

Well Count make no doubt about it, If UT fails this season then the people you are calling out will most certainly find you and remind you of what an idiot you were for calling them out and that the coach you appear to worship is just that bad...Playing king of the Doolites just put a target on your back if he fails...None of us want him to fail, We want him to win but some of us can see he is not that good of a coach and do not have confidence in him.....Like his team last year

The above has been the most intelligent comment on the thread. When I became a Vol fan, the coach was named Bowden Wyatt. One thing I've learned is that the HC position on a football team is a temporary job. The HC deserves support during his tenure. But sooner or later Derek Dooley, like all the others before him, will not be our coach. It may be 5 months from now or 30 years. But his is a temporary job. He will eventually leave. What will remain will be Tennessee football.

BTW, as a fan, I have no idea if CDD has rebuilt this UT football team or not. I cannot know this from the hype accorded certain players, even a talented QB who has never once beaten a ranked team. I cannot know this from John Adams' articles, or all the impassioned posts here that begin with the word 'If.."

The only way I will know if the 2012 Vols are a good football team is to look at the scoreboard when the time remaining reads 00:00 in the 2nd half of each game.

That's my point, he's amassed enough talent over the last few years to where we should win 8 games this year, maybe 9, that couldn't be said when he took over.
Now, if we only win 6 games this year, then I will not be a fan, either. My fan hood is not unconditional. I just think some realism regarding the mess he inherited is in store, and some recognition of nice recruiting over the last few yrs. This year will go a long way in revealing whether his plan is working or not. I'm still optimistic, but the good thing is we will find out soon enough.

Exactly, but until then, some choose to badmouth the coach and complain about everything, some other choose to be positive about the future, neither one will know if they are right until the season gets here.
