I guarantee you platform providers would LOVE an all streaming future. It would eliminate the expense of R&D'ing and manufacturing new consoles, they would have complete control over their libraries, and 100% of their userbase would be on a constant recurring revenue stream with subscriptions.

And I am decidedly not running on a potato. I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ and I was running on my home wifi, which I live in Chattanooga and I use 1gb EPB fiber optic, which is considered one of the fastest internet providers in the country. I mean, I wouldn't say it was unplayable but its still no comparison to playing natively.

One of them is going to be Starfield. I haven’t had time at all to really keep up with video games over the last 4-6 months except playing Elden Ring so I have no idea what else they could be hinting at.
If Starfield comes before June 30, 2023 I would be happy af..................but part of it feels like Cyberpunk to me. I have little to no faith in nearly all game studios now until they prove the doubts wrong.

Have you seen the trailer for Starfield? It reveals the release date to be 11-11-22. At least that’s what people expect it to be because the voice speaking when they show that date is “You are go for launch” so it would be quite a dick move if they didn’t launch the game on that date.

More importantly though, please don’t Cyberpunk Starfield. I’m really interested in what the game could bring.

They delayed that date til 2023

I tried Xcloud out on my phone, specifically Forza Horizon 5. Let's just say I'm in NO HURRY for an all streaming future!
I've not had any issues with xcloud so far. I even boughta Razer Kishi to use with it. Of course I don't tend to play AAA titles on it. Mostly stuff like Hades, Dead Cells, and Katamri. As long a I'm on wifi it's works great. I did play Halo Infinite on there and it worked well. But it was the single player campaign and not multilayer.

Yeah It's probbly fine for things like RPG's and indie titles. But on Forza I got a lot resolution drops. I'm talking heavy pixelation at times. It wasnt completely unplayable but after a few minutes I just thought "screw this, I'd rather just play natively."

Dead Cells needs some petty precise controls and it handled Halo Infinite in single player. But I could see an heavy online game like Forza giving it issues. It is still in beta after all.

I have a pretty definite criteria for what I want to play handled and it's mostly jrpgs, metrovanias, and puzzle games. So it works for me. A game like Forza is one I'd want to install and play on the big screen, preferably with a hard line connection. Streaming is a great entry point for a lot of folks. But I don't see it replacing native games any time soon.

I'm fine with it as just another option. If that's all streaming ever is, great! If you like it, more power to you. But I shudder to think of a future where ALL gaming content is accessed via streaming and that is the only way you can get it. Hopefully that is so far out, I'll be dead or in a nursing home somewhere soiling my Depends.

I don't think you have much to worry about there. Even if consoles go that way one day, the PC community wouldn't accept it.

That Starfield extended gameplay trailer was straight fire for me. I am a little concerned with the scope of the game and the framerate looked a bit suspect, but this game checks all the boxes for me. I am still hurt by Cyberpunk so I am assuming nothing I saw will be in the game and it will be a buggy mess.

Yeah my experience has been fantastic and even on games like MLB where timing is the most important. Certainly the experience will vary for everyone, but for me in the middle of the woods in my camper and 2 bars of 5G, it was very enjoyable. I am very surprised at what they are able to do with this tech, just didnt think we would be in a place like this. I highly recommend the backbone for an iphone, i prefer it to playing something on my switch.

Can't do 5g gaming on mine. I have you to get away from tmobile/sprint. But it's been great on the wifi. I played super meat boy on it last night. That game is unforgiving as heck.

It looks right up my alley. But it's a Bethesda game so it'll probably be buggy to start. They generally get their single player games fixed though.

I just wish Bethesda would update or replace their graphics engine. Those character models in Starfield, LMAO!

I also read this morning that Starfield will not allow you to manually fly your ship into a planet's atmosphere and land the way you can in No Man's Sky. It's only a cutscene, similar to Destiny. That's disappointing as that is one of my favorite things to do in NMS.

That's the price you pay for this kind of scope and such a robust character creator. Rendering is easier when everything is just preset parts like NMS. When you have the detailed control you do in a Bethesda game, controlling minute details of facial structure, is going to look less polished.

I'm confused about the no seemless transition on landing thing. The also said you could land anywhere on the planet. No idea how that are going to pull that off. It's a small matter as long as I can land where I want and fly in atmosphere. I'm just glad they didn't go the Elite Dangerous route and make landing an overly complicated chore.

I don't expect it to look like Horizon Forbidden West. But there's a spectrum between that and what Starfield looks like and I just wish Bethesda could've met that a little more in the middle somewhere. I still say it's the archaic graphics engine they refuse to let go of that's the biggest reason, more so than the scope of the game. They've been using that same engine since Elder Scrolls IV, I think.

I haven't played Elite Dangerous, so I don't know what that's like but in No Man's Sky, there's just something so satisfying about flying into a planet and having it's atmosphere "grab" you as you accelerate towards it's surface! Especially on PS5 with the way the Dualsense controller reacts to your ship rumbling and vibrating! I know some don't care about this detail but I hate that we won't have that sensation in Starfield.

My favorite thing that they showed with Starfield is the ship building/customization. That is one thing in No Man's Sky that I wish they would update. Rather than simply buying new ships, I'd love the ability to buy the parts to build my own ship.

Developers don't generally create a whole new engine. They just update the existing one until it's different enough to call it a new engine.

Not having the seemless transition is disappointing. But it's a small thing to me.

I'm with you on the ship creation. I'll likely lose a lot of time to messing with that.

Oh one other thing I'm very bummed about is there's no 60fps mode for the console version of the game. After enjoying 60fps gaming for the last 2 years, this REALLY depresses me!

Wait what? Even at 1080? That blows.
The Bethesda guy said they were targeting 4K/30fps on console. He also said he thinks this would be the ideal way to play for the more "cinematic experience". He mentioned nothing about a performance mode. Doesnt mean they couldnt add one I suppose but they made no mention of it.

Well I'm playing on a Series S on a 1080 display. So hopefully the frame rate is better. That little thing has been a beast at that resolution so far. Hopefully they aren’t locking it at 30 fps.

I've heard the "cinematic" BS from ubisoft before. It was just as stupid then. I'll probably play it either way, since it'll be on gamepass. But that's the most disconcerting thing I've heard so far.
