Official Xbox discussion thread

That Starfield extended gameplay trailer was straight fire for me. I am a little concerned with the scope of the game and the framerate looked a bit suspect, but this game checks all the boxes for me. I am still hurt by Cyberpunk so I am assuming nothing I saw will be in the game and it will be a buggy mess.

I’m buying it day 1. I am glad I never spent a cent on Cyberpunk. Saw that coming a mile away. I fully expect bugs which is normal for Bethesda games at launch and then they get better. I’m just hoping for some real funny ones which is a staple for them, too lol.

That's the price you pay for this kind of scope and such a robust character creator. Rendering is easier when everything is just preset parts like NMS. When you have the detailed control you do in a Bethesda game, controlling minute details of facial structure, is going to look less polished.

I'm confused about the no seemless transition on landing thing. The also said you could land anywhere on the planet. No idea how that are going to pull that off. It's a small matter as long as I can land where I want and fly in atmosphere. I'm just glad they didn't go the Elite Dangerous route and make landing an overly complicated chore.

I mean, it should be a chore landing a spacecraft on a planet. The one part that pisses me off in ED is the spinning starbases that you take off from inside.

The stations are what I was referring to mostly. My thinking was that with a space fairing civilization that's spread across the galaxy, landing should be trivial by that point. Auto landing should just be built into the ship and not an extra piece you have to buy and take up an expansion slot. It always baffled me that they put so much time into that mechanic specifically.

I understand the desire for realism. It's just not the sort of thing I want to spend time learning how to do in a space game. That's what games like Kerbal are for. I did wish I could put Elite Dangerous' flight mechanics into NMS. It has been a while since I've played either though.

I've got Chorus on deck to play next, so hopefully that will scratch my space battle itch.

Yeah I agree with the auto landing feature. I’ve also heard it is extremely buggy and have a friend who has been bitten a few times by it so I’ve never used it myself.

It’s been roughly 2 years since I’ve last played ED. NMS slightly lower than that. I enjoy both and wish there was more to Odyssey. I haven’t bought it, but right now it seems like an add-on that just stays in its own little space. Not much if anything at all transfers back to the original layout of the game.

I need to see what updates have been done on NMS and see if anything has changed. I know about building/growing settlements was the last thing I remember trying to do.

I haven't played since the added the derelict ships in space that you could board. So I'm sure they've added to it since then. NMS is a ton of fun. It's just such a time sink, and I've been able to get back to it with all the other games I want to play. I've pretty much given up on Star Citizen ever getting out of Alpha. So I'm really hoping really going Starfield doesn't stink.

The derelict ships were fun. I made myself an Iridium farm on a planet and can make a ton of credits really quick. But after that the game kinda becomes what all other survival games end up being: farm more resources just to build elaborate bases/structures.

Yeah, I spent a ton of time farming S class ships and then a capital ship and fleet to accompany it. Once I had my fleet put together I kind of lost interest. I felt like I was spending all my time harvesting fuel to keep my ships gassed up to go out on missions.

I tried finding good s-class freighters but found it too much trouble so I just gave up. Haven’t really tried going back to it either. And you are correct soooo much fuel for those dudes. And it’s the same “missions” for them over and over.

Yeah my experience has been fantastic and even on games like MLB where timing is the most important. Certainly the experience will vary for everyone, but for me in the middle of the woods in my camper and 2 bars of 5G, it was very enjoyable. I am very surprised at what they are able to do with this tech, just didnt think we would be in a place like this. I highly recommend the backbone for an iphone, i prefer it to playing something on my switch.
Yeah I’ve played some show on Xcloud and it was surprisingly good.

By the way, for those who may not know, Xbox is still honoring the gold conversion to game pass. My game pass expired yesterday. I let it expire, then added 36 months of gold for $54 from Xbox cards online. Then converted that to game pass. I’m set until June 2025.

Same here, I thought it was a mistake.

When I did it, for capital ships jump around from system to system, saving at the space station each time. Once you get the random encounter where can buy one, reload to the previous system. The next jump will be the random capital ship encounter every time. Check all the systems you can jump to reloading after each, (the ship type will be different in each system, but you'll always get the same type when you jump to that same system again. After you know which ship each system has in it Pick the one you like and repeat the jump/reload process until you get an S class. I got one in an evening that way.

It's similar for your normal ship, just pick a spot in a prosperous system where several spawn, fly done there, wait around until a bunch of ships land. If you don’t get an S class you like reload to the space station and repeat.

Where did you go to buy 36 months for $54?

That’s what I did for my capitol ship and fighter. Took a while, but I finally got what I wanted. Of course after that it was kind of a “….now what?” sorta moment. I think after that is when I went and made my Iridium mining operation.

Same here, I started the living ship quest but started having trouble doing that and hunting for fuel.

Eventually a buddy got me on Star Wars Squardrons for a while and that was the end of that.

I remember that quest. It’s a pretty neat ship. How is Squadrons? Does it work well in co-op?

I had a lot of fun with the campaign. The multi-player had some balance issues. The fleet battles were pretty heavily tilted to the empire. I haven't played it since they added the new ships though. Dog fights were fun but had a brutal learning curve.

I bought nine 3-month gold cards from eneba. Each time you activate one they give you an extra month to turn on recurring billing. If you turn off recurring billing before activating the next one, you get a free month each time. Nine cards times four months each equals 36 months.

Here’s the link to the cards I bought.

Xbox Live Gold Membership code 3 months | Great price | ENEBA

Did you buy each card on its own or did you buy all 9 together?

And I know this question sounds stupid, but this link is for Global region cards. Do they work in the US? Because I thought you had to buy US cards.

I bought all nine together. And I think they are global. Someone else sent me the link. It worked for them and it worked for me. If you're unsure, maybe try one at first, just to be safe, but I didn't have any issues.

It was kind of a pain, to claim all nine codes and deal with recurring billing each time, but it's a gigantic savings.

Yeah no kidding. If you compare it to the $15/mon Ultimate is then you save $486 over the 36 month span.

You can also do Microsoft rewards and use points to get a free month of game pass. It's some leg work. But it takes 12000 points to get a free month and that is doable month to month.

Since we have a dedicated PlayStation thread, and I wasn't sure where to post this. Pretty interesting, imo.
