Ohio State looking past Vols

If we had been at the top of the sport for the last 30 years, and this was old hat, and we hated our coach — probably quite a few ….. if they wanted to fund their inevitable trip to Pasadena.
Can’t really imagine a situation where we stay at the top for 30 years but I bet anything fans would turn out heavy for every game they could. Hopefully we have that problem at some point and I’m lucky enough to be alive to discuss it.

About as likely as it was in Death Valley a few years ago.
It’s a fair point. I think the difference is day game at LSU (maybe) . . . And outside of that one road game . . . We have not looked great in road games. Lots of pre-snap penalties.

We did beat Oklahoma - but they are not nearly as talented as OSU.

I hope to be wrong . . . But I think motivation is such a big part of it . . . And OSU has so much on their side with all of the “save Ryan Day’s job” talk and wanting to show they are not the team that lost to UM AGAIN.

In 2022 they came out against UGA with their hair on fire and almost won that game. I expect the same . . .

To weather that type of situation you have to have a team with a more seasoned player at QB.

Well you’re a 10 win SEC team and Vegas has us winning by more than a touchdown. Your math doesn’t add up.
All home teams they have as at least 7 point favorites. Do you feel that Ohio State would still be favored if committee made decision to place game in Knoxville? Heavy hitter betters say there is not a precedent to how any of this works out because we have no sample of this format. 2 weeks off and play an opponent you didnt have on your schedule so preparation is hastened compared to a bowl with offen a whole month delay to prepare for an opponent. This weekend may be bizarre. I expect multiple busted coverages and more penalties than normal.

I was specifically referring to your question if we could get 30k there. I think we can. Idk if we will.

Thankfully Will Howard is serviceable but he is NOT CJ Stroud.

laugh while you can
Can you explain why we’re not playing PSU? You beat them head to head, and they lost by more points to a common team that beat you both.why are you not ranked above them

Yeah because the home teams earned higher seeds by being better / ranked higher.

Vegas has OSU as a favorite on a neutral site too btw

You guys have a good board and passionate fans. I appreciate that I was allowed in here to have some fun.
I hope we beat the hell out of you guys but if not I hope both teams come out healthy and I wish your team the best. Some here are conference loyal, I just can’t root for other SEC teams and I hate Notre Dame. Probably will pull for OSU or Oregon at that point bc everyone despises Jimmy Franks.

Both Tennessee and OSU got screwed by the committee with the hardest path. The committee didn’t want to punish teams that made the title game and lost. I agree it makes no sense.

No my point was the dumb argument that OSU would be a random 8-9 win sec team is stupid. We are a touchdown plus favorite over a 10 win sec team. The top team in another conference coming to the sec and winning is another data point that the top teams could win anywhere.
You play so well as a favorite!! Remind me how many points Michigan spread was???

Commitee makes a decision. Doesn't make them right. I have no problem Ohio State hosting. I guarantee they wouldn't be favored in Neyland. No shot.

You keep bringing up the Vegas spread, if that is so important, should you have not played in the Big10 championship game? I mean you were a 21 point favorite in your last game......

How did that work out for ya?

The Vols defense rates better than a Michigan unit that limited Ohio State to 10 points and 252 yards in better weather.

It’s dumb to pick a random game and extrapolate. I haven’t mentioned Arkansas (who sucks) one time.

Yep, we didnt play well against Arkansas. We were a 14 point favorite on the road with a freshman QB playing his 1st road game. Far cry from a 21 point favorite at home with the most expensive college ro a terrible ever bought

Yes the LSU team that lost to USC of the big ten this year. See - we can play this game all day.
We can play this game but you rlly don’t want to 😭And he wasn’t wrong, my grandma could coach an Osu soft a** scheldule to 10-2. Even with all the talent , and that big fan base you have, y’all constantly do the least with the most . 😂😂 I just wanna thank the pinkeyes for selling all of their tickets and giving Tn fans a chance to claim our new home field. Neyland north. Tickets being 150 dollars rlly screams how excited y’all are for the game. Kinda sad

Then why are we more than a touchdown favorite by Vegas against you? Wouldn’t that imply that oddsmakers view us as the better team — a great team that win 10 games in the SEC?
Why were you a 21 point favorite against Michigan at home. I would be more concerned about how at home you lost to a team that you were favored by 21 by Vegas to beat at home. There is a data point for you. I would not use that as an example if I were you. Add Nebraska. Nothing to brag about.

It would be awesome . . .
And very well could impact the game.

One thing to consider - if UT could get a 10 point lead on them like we did against UGA, their fan base will boo Ryan Day . . . And that could cause turmoil for their team.
