Pretty sure I just saw the ghost of the great Knute Rockney---no wait, the greater Generald Neyland come out of the mist.

Then why are we more than a touchdown favorite by Vegas against you? Wouldn’t that imply that oddsmakers view us as the better team — a great team that win 10 games in the SEC?
I don’t care about oddsmakers. OSU gets blown by the media every year, but when it’s gut check time, they give in like a drunken whore.

Your argument is that we don’t play well as a favorite? lol do I even need to show you the numbers.
Well let me show you the numbers since I am not sure OSU fans can count:

OSU
Since 2010 - ATS - 104 - 86 - 4. 54.7%
Since 2003 - ATS - 156 - 121 - 4

Since 2010 ATS
Home - 57-46-1
Home favorite - 55-46-1
Bowl Games - 8-7
Against ranked opponents - 36-28-2

Seems your vegas obsession is misguided. And no, you don't play well as a favorite

It would be awesome . . .
And very well could impact the game.

One thing to consider - if UT could get a 10 point lead on them like we did against UGA, their fan base will boo Ryan Day . . . And that could cause turmoil for their team.
Yeah I wonder about the head space some of those players will be in if they get down. Got a bunch of guys in their final year that never have beat Michigan. I know they “believe” in their coach but that’s only put to the test when you face adversity. I don’t believe the shoe will be as loud as Norman, Athens, or Fayetteville this time of year.

lol. Dude it’s 7.5 points not 3.
If the Vols lose everyone will say it was tough going on the road… they were seven point dogs…. Blah blah blah…. But if they win….. everyone will say…. Typical OSU vs the SEC… they’re just a buncha bitches
Either way…..the cold truth is OSU IS a buncha underachieving bitches

Fans will show up. It’s the largest fan base in college football.

Tenn fans being excited and buying tickets more than other opponents and OSU fans being supportive are not mutually exclusive.
Fans can 'show up' only to the extent of their stadium capacity. Ohio Stadium is less than 1,000 people at capacity more than Neyland. So, that makes you the the largest fan base in college football? I wish we had your sorry ass in Neyland. You'd lose by 14. As it is, you'll probably only lose by 3.

Unless they have backup from law enforcement and pepper spray. If they somehow incorporate pepper spray in their game plan we’re screwed.

No my point was the dumb argument that OSU would be a random 8-9 win sec team is stupid. We are a touchdown plus favorite over a 10 win sec team. The top team in another conference coming to the sec and winning is another data point that the top teams could win anywhere.
The idea that Ohio St would lose more games in the SEC is not saying you couldn’t beat SEC teams, even some of the top teams. It’s more to do with the meat grinder that this conference is. In the Big 10, you can space out you’re couple of big games with teams like Purdue, Rutgers, Northwestern, etc. in the SEC, even teams on the lower end of the conference are capable of beating you if you’re not at the top of your game. Stacking games like that week after week is why the SEC is a different animal than other conferences.

Pretty much. Teams like South Carolina, Ole Miss, Bama all of which aren’t playoff teams are tough matchups. Even Florida was getting their crap together at the end of the season. Big ten has some good top end teams, they also have a lot of terrible teams.

Come on man. Ryan Day’s job is on the line and this game means everything. All of the OSU fans think Tenn will have a huge presence of fans. You’re talking out of your a$$
Tenn is not gonna be the team that cost Day his job. That was decided a couple weeks ago with Mich

And that arrogant ass response kind of proves my point. You guys are basically the Bama of the north just a different shade of that ugly ass Crimson color. You might have a few less trailers and a lot less titles but you still have that same sense of entitlement.
I thought this said less titties, which I nodded in agreement with. But yes, also less titles.

I think everyone on the fence on going to this game needs to realize Ohio State doesn't respect our team and the also don't respect our fans. Several season ticket holders have already sold their tickets with confidence that other Buckeye fans will pick those up. They don't believe for a second our fans will brave the elements, the distance, or the hostile environment to support our team. They're sure their sorry fans will pack that stadium with that low rent Crimson color to support their team. They're taking that money from those ticket sales and booking flights to Pasadena, reserving rooms for their inevitable rematch with Oregon. Some commentators have said Tennessee is just "along for the ride" or "happy to be here'. I wonder if any senior in that lockerroom feels just happy to be there?

In 2022, a large contingent of Vol fans took over Death Valley after our team sent their sorry ass fans heading for the exit at halftime. LSU recruits at that game even commented on how well Tennessee traveled and supported their team. Let's do the same at the Shoe. Let's take over that stadium when our players send those fans packing at half time. It's the least we can do for our seniors like Coop, Bru, Omari, ONL, Pili, etc that have given so much for this team. This is a once in a lifetime chance to take over the shoe and beat that team in Columbus. When we win you will want to be there.

Vol Defense will bury Ohio State in the Horseshoe on Saturday night.

And Tennessee would be favored by a touchdown or more in Neyland. Unfortunately the powers to be (Big 10) gifted Ohio state with a home game they did not earn.
So UT will just have to make the best of it and go up north and show Ohio state that spending more than every other school in the nation on your team can still lead to disappointment.
I’ve seen you mention Vegas a few times now so how much have you got on the game with all that faith in Vegas and that line?

Iirc, the last time Tennessee played Ohio State was the 1996 Citrus Bowl. I was living in Fort Lauderdale at the time. A born and raised Knoxvillian I met in college days who was living in Pompano came up with tickets. So we rented a Lincoln Continental and motored up to whOrlando. Let me tell you, that was a hard fought game, a defensive battle in a drizzling rain. Every player on both teams seemed to give 110% on every snap. Might sound boring, but I was highly focused and extremely tense throughout. Jay Graham finally broke a long run for a game-winning Touchdown. OSU fans are mostly football snobs who think their poop don't stink, but their players will fight hard. I doubt those things have change much. We beat them then, when all of the writers and people generally expected OSU to win. Frankly, I expect this to be another hard fought game, and I think we will beat them again.
Shane Burton and Bill Duff with a big stop on Eddie!! Was there and had a blast!

LOL.. Largest fan base in the country?!? Ohio State?!?

You lost any credibility you may have had with that statement. Period.

In the modern era of college football, you've got 2 National Championships. Nobody gives a damn about the first runner up or making it in. But sure, you keep telling yourself how elite you clowns are while SEC teams and Michigan just keep whippin' your ass.

The back and forth in this thread kind of reminds of that OU thread started before the season. Lots of crowing from them about "looking forward to the game" and so on. I hope this ends the same way!

Deflecting because you can’t show anything to prove your point besides your opinion.

It’s our 6th playoff appearance. Any reasonable person would say it’s a bigger game for the team appearing for the first time.
There is an article I read a couple days ago. If Id saw this thread I would have attached. As a Tennessee fan it kind of was an insult, they did this whole article about how the Ohio State vs Oregon was going to be epic and it went in to all of the details that OSU should win this rematch went on and on about the individual match-ups etc... very long article. Then on the last line of this long piece , was the script of course OSU has to get by a scrappy Tennessee first.

James Pierce gonna eat!
Over/under on the number of penalties Pierce gets for trying to time the snap and gets caught off sides? Wonder how the NFL will see his skills/technique vs just being a speed rush guy? I'll be interested to see where he goes in the draft.

It's a second language for some on this board. I speak it fluently.
