Oil Rig Explosion

A spokesman for the whale called this a lesson for the future, he said the main reason not much oil was recovered was that large amount of dispersants had been used, therefore only a small percentage of the oil surfaced.[/QUOTE]

That makes perfect sense. The "A Whale" (what a stupid name - by the way) was working only 6 miles from the wellhead. I can attest to the fact that there is NOT a heavy amount of oil on the surface here. We couldn't understand why it was being tested here instead of in the areas where the slick was heaviest. Pure speculation here - but I tend to believe they were set up for failure. Question: What's the best way to deflect criticism for not allowing them in for so long? My answer? Prove it wouldn't have helped anyway...

The guy from Taiwan needs hire an American media consultant. Perhaps if it were succcessful it might have been an embarrassment to the Chinese communist government.

Obama, Reid and Pelosi promised us the most transparent government ever, they have delivered, everything they say is transparently false.

At any rate big wheels in international socialism have said they would use environmentalism and ecological disaster to usher in world government.

If you point this out people call you tin foil hat paranoi conspiracy nuts but that is what they said.

It is also my understanding that we had 1,200 unused skimmers that stayed in their home ports because of government regulations that could hve been sent to the gulf on a moments notice, know anything about that?

but don't you know gs .... we don't want to replace oil-soaked waters with 'dirty' water that has several parts per million of oil ........

I'm still upset that we get 99% of of our extra virgin olive oil from overseas and 69% of imported extra virgin olive oil isn't really extra virgin.

What have they been doing in that olive oil???

I don't know if I can ever eat pizza again and that's one of the three major food groups, along with beer and cigarettes.

It's a huge conspriacy I tell you!!!!!!

I think I'm going to start a movement to end our dependence on foreign olive oil!!!

I should probably start a cheese credits trading exchange, I'll bet I could really make some dough!!!!

well the first thing I saw when I stepped on the beach (Grayton Beach, FL) 2 workers, one with a net, scooped a tar ball up literally as we were walking down to drop our towels and chairs.

I walked over, asked to see it. It was about the size of a nickel. I asked to keep it and he wouldn't let me...We stayed about another two hours and I didn't see anymore..but the beach was the cleanest I've seeen it in 15 years of coming down here.

There we're about 30-40 workers every couple of miles walking the beach, picking up everything...sticks, seaweed, litter etc...

NEW ORLEANS — A federal official said Sunday that scientists are concerned about a seep and possible methane seen near BP's busted oil well in the Gulf of Mexico.

Both could be signs there are leaks in the well that's been capped off for three days.

The official spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity Sunday because an announcement about the next steps had not yet been made.

Orangetoes...any insights?

I'm at a loss to where they are seeing this supposed leak. There are some bubble emanating from the original wellhead - but, that is fairly common and has been monitored from the beginning. The part that says BP isn't complying with the feds request to increase monitoring is goofy, too. Every ROV that has access to the area is in the water running sonar sweeps looking for additional plumes.

I don't quite understand the lower than expected well bore pressure either. The anticipated pressure was calculated off of known information. But, we've known all along that we didn't have ALL the information. So, the calculation was basically a guess. Now, we finally seal it in and the acutal pressure is 300 psi less then the guessed - that equates to about 4% difference. I'm not seeing the big deal here. Not to mention the fact the internal pressure is still rising. It'll soon be over 7000 psi. What will they say then? That it's about to blow again? Which is it? Too low is bad because it's leaking... oh - wait - it rose into the right range - I guess it'll blow!!!!

As of now - I have seen no indication or another subsurface blow-out.

I am seeing bubbles on ROV OLY#1

That is one of the Olympic Challenger ROV's (UHD-31) and those are not bubbles you are seeing. That is dirt in the water column and is fairly common. It means the ROV pilot has his forward camera light on too bright and it's reflecting back to the camera. In the industry it is known as "cheerios" in the water.

FYI, that happens to be the boat I'm on now. I'll ask them to change their lights and it should go away.

Fixed... the lights are too close to the camera on this ROV and it took some doing but we got it cleared up. Believe it or not - there is a lot of stuff in the water at this depth both living and dead. There is a fine balance between getting enough light to see what you want to see and having it back scatter into your camera.

Isn't that what is called 'media spin?'

Jung and others talked about mass conscienceness.

Orwell talked about the controllers wanting to keep the masses in a constant state of apprehension.

Evidently the people Quigley talks about want to turn out the lights in America more or less.

APC down 5%. wonder what the market thinks is really happening. if orangetoes is right this would be a massive overreaction.
