Okay I was a bit harsh on Dooley.....

Weird target...KB always comes across reasonable to me...if he's more impressed with Bruce in comparison to Zo...he's not alone.

You're not going to start b******* about the PETITION?...are you?

There's one of those guys who, when cornered, would always resort to the tired "I'm older than you, son." I'm not sure whether it was him, because when I've seen him post recently, he's been reasonable as well, but it was one of them. The petition was stupid as all hell, but it's irrelevant to what I'm saying.

I would not be so harsh when it comes to Dooley if he actually cared and tried to improve the program when he was here. But he didn't. He ignored in state players, did not let VFL legends to come and visit and basically just didn't care. He instilled a losing mentality into the players and failed to sign a single offensive linemen in 2012.

He was a losing head coach before he got here and he was a loser while he was here. I don't think he ever really wanted the job. Maybe he took the UT as a resume builder. Dooley deserves every bit of what he gets.

Don't think KB's that old...could be wrong, but I don't think he's ever dressed down a poster by saying "I have stools older than you!" :)

To limit the scope of Dooley's ineptitude to "worst UT coach ever" would be a massive oversight. He's unequivocally the worst coach in NCAA history. Not only that, he's a world class *******.

I have been around enough to recognize the pain of failure and not to take shots at people because of their failures even if they seem to deserve it. What is the point of having contempt for someone who has already failed? What does it say about a person who DOES have contempt for someone who failed?

My experience is what it is. I've had a good career and reasonably good success at leading different types of organizations. I've seen the good and bad... success and failure.

If any of this makes me a "bad" guy according to you worthy of your smart aleck post then I guess that's just one more scar I'll have to live with.

Hey Jesus, you can drop the cross, time for your revival act.

Wore than stupid hat just like Saban during the first camp and asked that the players "do you think it is hot in Gainsville?"

That makes me think of Phil Hartman doing Frank Sinatra on SNL back in the day. Good stuff.

RIP Phil Hartman.

I personally can't fault anything related to the coaches in the UGA game. Jones had exactly the right strategy. They capitalized on their breaks. They didn't "stop" UGA's O but they were able to limit them enough. UT was clearly the more physical team.

Jones got them to the last play and came up literally an inch or two from beating a superior team. Very impressive IMO.

I wouldn't call it a "Dooley". I don't remember any undisciplined plays that cost last year's Vols the win. I don't remember any plays that yielded rule changes :loco:. I don't remember too many guys on the field.

It came down to a guy laying his all on the line and losing control of the ball a fraction of a second too soon.

To say it was a "dooley"... diminishes what those guys did IMO.

i was actually talking about the game tying drive with less than 2 minutes to go and uga starting on thier own 25. they drove 75 yards in about 1:40 and there were 2 personal fouls at the end of that drive. iirc they also converted a 3rd and long, not that they wouldnt have went for it on 4th down.

so in retrospect i guess your right they didnt pull a "dooley" they pulled a "chavis".

When you say, "BearCat, you lack the life experience to understand this situation," you are implying that you DO have the sufficient experience and that that is why you're right and he's wrong. That's a direct implication, not a strawman, and that's what I'm attacking. Not sure why that's hard to understand.

Bearcat seems like he's able to take care of himself... so I'm not sure what your interest is. If he doesn't understand then I'm sure he can find a way to ask or challenge me... if he cares to. I have experience dealing with failure. Not on that level but similar at MY level and in my field. I've experienced and overcome it. I have seen it and watched guys sink.

The only "assumptions" I make about a poster's experience is those drawn from their posts. There's no crime in being ignorant. Hopefully Bearcat won't have to face the kind of smothering pressure and defeat Dooley experienced... whether he's great at what he does or not. But if he HAS faced it then that would say far worse about him than just doubting his experience.

It is most definitely strawmen that you attack. Your primary "contribution" here is to take shots at other posters that you consider too positive or who don't communicate just like you want them to. I seldom if ever even see you comment on an issue or state opinions of your own about football. .

"He didn't go recruit on Friday nights. That is unfathomable for a head coach" -More Jimmy on Derek Dooley.

Jimmy with some strong words about Derek Dooley. Doesn't think any of the UT legacy players would have signed to Dooley.

I just clearly explained to you, at probably a 3rd grade reading level, how what I'm attacking is not a strawman.

How do you respond? By attacking a strawman.

Bahahahahahahahahaha

Do you actually understand the term "strawman"?

And for what little it might be worth... no one forced either of you to read my "pretentious ramblings". I responded in a very specific context to an issue. But if some of you DO in fact have experience with the pain and shame of failing in a position of significant responsibility and STILL think it is the right thing to have people mock and attack you... then I'd like to hear about it. Or maybe you've been through a nasty divorce where friends and family of the spouse feel compelled to take shots at you. Or maybe you've had an experience like Peterman last fall where you failed badly for the whole world to see... Why don't we all just gang up and post endlessly about how bad Nate is? In fact, why don't we keep doing it just for fun after he's long gone?

Talking about Jimmy Hyams comments on the radio this morning.

Well, let's remember that Jimmy Hyams is the same guy who refused to criticize Dooley while he was here, practically trademarking the "You have to give a coach 3 years before you can make any evaluations" phrase for anytime anyone inquired as to Dooley's ability as head coach.

The guy is a radio talk show host. Having an opinion is like the bulk of the job, but he got by without making any assessments or evaluations of Dooley for 3 years? Only on Knoxville radio.

Of course, this policy didn't extend to the 18-22 year old players. Nope. Hyams went on the radio and called for Da'Rick Rogers to be kicked off the team after the Kentucky game.

Classy Jimmy Hyams. Seems he'll never miss a chance to suck up to the powers that be at UT, no matter who is in charge. But is totally happy to criticize folks once they are no longer there.

Funny how many people have noticed this. Of course, those people must all be "folks like me," because according to sjt he saves that attitude for those people exclusively.

The interesting thing about that is when I was unwilling to post the negatives I saw because I was convinced it would hurt the team if posters en masse were negative... some of the people upset with me now were "liking" my posts and praising my "reason".

You are a special case... don't be a coward by trying to hide in a crowd.

I don't remember ever having a problem with Gahlee. He took offence and took a shot. That's fine. It happens. For him to become you... that would have to become his mission. Hopefully it won't.

Three things:

1)I can't believe he didn't recruit on Fridays. Who the hell does that or doesn't do that? smh.

2)I firmly believe that none of the legacy players would have come to UT.

3)Glad he's gone.

You are right on both accounts. Would have been an amazing whiff to have lost that many great players with ties to UT.

I wonder if Dooley stopped recruiting on Fridays or never did?

Thanks for expressing the sentiment others did... but objectively and respectfully.
