The much respected Phil Steele just commented that he expects Oklahoma to be in the final 4 of this years innaugural playoff system, yet we have some wizards on here that think we will go to their house and pull out a victory. My goodness.
That starting OL and DL was not much to lose IMO.
It don't disagree that the OL underperformed and the DL was bad. Forget what they were for a minute. Just look at the idea that we have to put together a cohesive OL that has relatively no experience and has never played together which severely impacts their ability communicate and function effectively as a unit at least for the early part of the season.
Secondly, we have no proven DTs. We're gonna have to rely on a guy who showed some potential last year coming off a knee injury, an undersized (but very strong) JUCO and a bunch of true freshmen. Our DEs should help a lot, but there you have a RS Jr who didn't play a down last year and a true Soph who got limited time last year as a "pass rushing specialist".... a JUCO and a couple of very talented freshmen ...but they're freshmen.
To me, regardless of what they're replacing, it's still a tall order. We're pretty much starting from scratch.

Right now we have a walkon starting at left tackle....not good....we saw how playing a bunch of walk ins worked for us last year.

True, but we have some returning players on the DL that can and will contribute. While our OL has not played together, they have been in the system a year with the exception of Blair and Thomas. However it is not unheard of to have Freshman contribute. It is not like we are fielding a team of complete Freshmen.
I don't think we will go to OU and win but year in and out they underachieve. Their QB looked horrific in their spring game and the one that did play well that transferred from TT can't even play. Think too many are gonna base it off what they did to an Ala team that had no motivation for that game. I think Ala is at the playing for a NC every year mode and any other bowl game is a let down. That's happened several times to Saban Coached teams. I would bet if Ala/OU was the NC game that Ala probably beats the brakes off them. And I hate Ala with a passion and hope they lose every game.
Must be nice not having to worry about getting your team getting pumped for the postseason.
