OldTimer Appreciation Thread.

One of my hobbies is calling into a certain polarizing Knoxville sports “radio” show. I’ve been calling off and on for 30 years. 25 of those years I lived in states other than TN, but got to keep up with the Vols by listening and calling when I could. Over the years, naturally some of the loyal, long-time callers have passed. (Some may even know of Brady, Jeeker, Farmer Charlie, and several others). It was eerily sad when members of the “radio family“ passed away. I’ve never met most of them in person, but they feel like friends— much like OldTimer felt like a friend. Sincere condolences to his family and friends (including his VN ones).

I do miss OT being around, hope he chose to just get off here.

Also miss roller and talking food, music and plenty of other things to avoid talking Vol baseball.

And smoke signals. But being good is better than sucking.
You’re making me very sentimental.
‘This is a brutal reminder that there are real human beings behind the posts we read. I bet I would have enjoyed having a beer with both those gentlemen. As well as you and many others on here.

I did not even realize he was not around in the immediate aftermath of the CWS title win. That’s unfortunate. I do hope he did not pass and if he did I hope he was at least able to see the Vols climb the mountain top before it happened. If anyone deserved to see Tennessee go out on top, it was him.

Best wishes, OT. You will be missed.
