Olivier Nkamhoua Enters the Transfer Portal

I'm undecided if this is a good or bad thing for the team. I think he's been playing out of position as a 5, and if we had a scoring big, he would have been a four. If I were him, I'd be headed to a program where he could be assured he would not be asked to play the five. If he plays every game at the four, he'll have a chance to show what he can do to pro scouts. We're still not going to have a scoring big next season, so he's smart to leave.

Can't blame ONs inconsistency on coaching.
Obviously he has talent and he's been coached up.....
To assume he'll go to another program/staff and become a force every night is stretch.

Did I say that?

And no, you don’t think scoring 27 points against a red hot Duke team then scoring 6 points against an undersized FAU team isn’t hinting at a bit of laziness?

I’m not saying FAU is a bad team but this is where ORN should have used his size and skills to slow them down.
I don't think it is laziness. I don't think Barnes puts up with laziness. I just think he's trying really hard and just isn't very good. Every once in a while he gets looks that he likes and he has an good night.

Let's put it this way ... UTjr, USCe, and Duke all have a place for him today! As far as they know, he's the 2nd coming of Karl Malone!

That boy had unbelievable games against all 3. It was just the other 30 head scratchers. I must have growled the word "Kaaahmwaaah" over 100 times during the past 3 seasons. So talented fundamentally. But magically able to disappear for weeks and make the most bewildering plays at both ends.

Thanks for the memories and for giving your all young man!

Kid played four years here and came back from a brutal injury to average 11/5/2 against one of the toughest schedules in the country and put Duke away basically single handedly. Sounds like it was the coaches’ decision to move him on but the disrespect in this thread is crazy.

You're disrespect for this thread is crazy. 😉

Talented 4 man that was probably asked to need to do too much on this team. Had a good shot and is good in the pick and roll game. Problem is, didnt have many guards that could get in the paint and create for him.

Honestly think we’ll be hard pressed to find someone better in the portal.

I guess we will find out if Aidoo and Awaka can get it done. We will find out if Estrella is ready. Barnes typically doesn't do a lot with skinny bigs.
If Awaka learns to shoot free throws, he'll be a huge improvement over ON. Aidoo is already better.

I think he's just one of those guys that doesn't have the "motor" to go all out most of the time. I noted him standing around watching as others went after rebounds. Santi out-rebounded him often, and that should rarely happen.

Honestly, TN went how he went. Especially at the start of SEC play. If he was knocking down the mid range shot, he was great. Every game, if he had early misses his confidence disappeared which I believe impacted him the rest of game.

Kansas - Great Game
MS St - Excellent Game
@ USCjr - Phenomenal Game (10-10 from the floor)
Texas - Phenomenal Game
Duke - Phenomenal Game

If he didn’t make early shots, you could forget.

Nkamhoua is just leveraging for money, he didn’t have a spot here and likely isn’t playing college ball next year.
I fully believe he didn't have a spot here, but what leverage does he have for money anywhere? Who is he pitting against each other to get paid if he has no plans to play college ball? Seems like a strange angle.

Edit: Nevermind...saw your other posts on the issue. Makes some sense.

So you think every player on this team was lazy? Every one of them disappeared for stretches this season.

For Barnes' faults I don't think he has a problem benching lazy players, so I doubt anybody with significant minutes could be labeled as lazy.
I agree. Only difference between his GREAT games and his subpar ones was he hit a few more open shots then normal. I like ON but his fade away shot in the paint blew my mind. My biggest concern with him is that he typically was out rebounded by other bigs getting a third of his playing time plus JJJ and Santi always had as many of not more. With all his length and athleticism I just never understood those stats.

I wouldn’t mind him coming back tbh, but I also get the staff wanting to freshen up the roster. I always like experience but we had that this year, so I get wanting to turn the page. I also get the criticism about consistency. I just ah the seeing him play so big every now and then to hardly show up others games and for his career here ti end like it did. Better for the team and for him, I guess, so I wish the best for him.

I'm hearing he wants to shoot more 3s like they do 50% of the time in the NBA. Barnes doesn't approve so he leaves like what's his name did last year & went to Louisville
