I continue to be amazed every time someone posts blaming CRB for holding back our players from reaching their potential. CRB has given ON minutes for 4 years and ON clearly improved in his time at UT, flashing all-conference ability at times followed by disappearing in subsequent games. We’ve all questioned his poor body language and hustle at times. He showed up as a project and CRB developed him into an SEC starter. ON has the green light to take good outside shots for the past 2 years. Can’t even imagine ON not being grateful for his time under CRB’s coaching. JMO
I'm 43, and I don't think we had a down year. I'm very much alright with the totality of the end result from a 10000-foot view.
I also couldn't stand Olivier Nkamhoua. Never have cared for him. Didn't like that we recruited him, didn't see the upside (though he showed more potential across his career than I ever anticipated), and think he was extremely inconsistent in both the production and the effort departments across his career.
Being fed up with a player and enjoying the season aren't mutually exclusive.
The potential he showed in games, this year, like Texas and Duke, never manifested itself in any consistent form. I never expected him to be a 20/10 guy every night, but it's entirely fair to be frustrated, as a fan, to get that kind of production 3-4 times in a season, and then see if followed up with 6/2 nights. The inconsistency of his entire career was pretty much summed up in his final two games. All-world against Duke, invisible against Florida Atlantic.
There's a reason he doesn't have the option to return to Tennessee despite having a year of eligibility at a position of need.
He definitely was a tough player to project, a lot of upside, but disappeared alotHe was more than a project when Barnes signed him. Barnes put a lot of effort in trying to teach him the game. He should be very happy with what Barnes taught him Fact is, he was still very inconsistent and seemed to not give his best effort to play. In the games he decided to give his best effort he was better than most expected. He just didn’t reach that level of play very often and he has only himself to blame for that.
ON has gotten a lot of uncalled for grief over the last few years . I remember when I was on Twitter a guy gave him a very obscene name that he thought was funny. That was 3 years ago. I get that he’s inconsistent but that kind of the stuff thrown at him seems over the top. His legacy here for me will always be that Duke game. His performance two weeks ago on that game will always make me love him. I’m not super bummed he’s leaving but I’d be fine with him coming back, too. I don’t necessarily want any of these guys to go but I also think it’s not a bad thing for all involved.Honestly surprised more people aren't upset about this. He's shown great talent, and has good size to athleticism for the college game.
Consistency was is biggest down side, but I'd rather he fix that here than somewhere else.
If he goes anywhere I think it will be a place he can be the star that they run offense through.
Exactly. He's probably best served playing overseas. Doubt another year in college will do anything to improve his stock and let's be honest, the professional career in most any sport is a short one compared to the average joe. ON probably should just get on with making some money while he can. Regardless, as long as he's not wearing UT orange next year, I'm wishing him well. Thanks for the memories.I mean…as good as he was for a few games this season…he had some absolute tankers too. We need consistency on offense. Only flashes with this kid and with many of our players. Not really that upset with this. Good luck to him. Could be a really good player with development.
He was inconsistent and had poor hands that made him turnover proned and lightened his rebounding stats but he was a serviceable player. He was the only big that could stretch the floor and could get hot and carry the team. I will forever be grateful for his performance against Duke.
