Onside kick

Don't know but if another team was up by as much as we were at the time and they did that most posters would be critical of them.
That's one way of looking at it.

He's giving future opponents stuff to try and prepare for and have a mental "overload" on the field

This is the nature of Heupel Philosophy.
We could never kick and onside kick against Kent State and still beat them by 73 points.

That kick was:
- to keep his team engaged
- give much better opponents in the future something to worry about.

No offense, but this is a competition. If it were an onside kick with them not lined up in a formation that basically makes it a give me, I would get it. In this case, it makes sense.

On a side note, Kent State might be the worst team at this level I’ve ever seen.

Absolutely the worst I’ve seen. Horrendous

Wasn’t necessary and believe we’ll be subject to a lot of criticism for doing it.
Boohoo. Heaven forbid our team tries to get reps and practices something. Good chance it was an automatic call from kicker because he saw something. You may not know this but our team needs reps regardless of the opponent.

My initial reaction was let’s be careful because they might start going after guys knees and so on, but my god this team is bad lol. I still lean towards don’t do it on principle.

it felt questionable to me as well, but it’s not insane to think coaches may have wanted to get a little in-game experience with an uncommon play but one that’s critical and necessary from time to time.

As it was said, it was planned before the game started. There will be ZERO criticism. Now if we tried it after Halftime, that's a different issue.

It's classless. Sure. But, the very fact that we have a coach who doesn't give a f*** about what others think of him is bada**!! He is going to do things his way and step on the other teans neck. He is teaching his players how to be ruthless and to set the standard.

Also, The kickers and special teams put time into their prep also. And Heupel would rather give them a chance, just like the 2nd and 3rd teamers, to showcase theur ability. And it was a perfectly placed kick might I add.
