Orson Charles (announcing at 4:30 pm EST)

"I like Tennessee. I really like the coaching staff. They are energetic and ready to go. Even though they are new, they were very clear and detailed to me on how they would use me and I liked the school on my visit. Tennessee was different than I expected. It is a better atmosphere than I thought it would be and you feel pretty comfortable when you visit there."

NSD has passed, so coaches can't call him, but he can call coaches. He spoke to Lane on Sunday night and he plans to call Chaney shortly.

"I am going to give coach Chaney a call to talk in some more details about the offense and how he uses people."

If you read this article, it certainly seems like Tennesssee could be his leader.

He is planning to announce on March 6th after his USC visit.

He also explained that he just transferred to Plant this year and was focused on winning the state title and building relationships with his teammates, therefore he couldn't schedule any visits till January and he's been trying to make a decision as quickly as possible.

"A lot of people say that I am doing this for attention," Charles said. "But that is not the case at all. I just could not schedule-wise get my visits in. I took a visit every weekend in January. I couldn't take one in December. We won the state title in December and then I was in the Army All-American game. I transferred to Plant High School this year and I was trying to get to know my new teammates and we had a goal of winning the state. The last thing as a new guy that I wanted to be was a distraction to the goal of winning it all."

wow crazy. just read this as well. for some reason i just don't see him signing with UT, though it would be HUGE and I would love to have him.

imagine janzen, nuke, bryce, marsalis, and orson.

5 guys who wouldn't even have visited Fulmer. amazing.

Thanks for the info, Jack.

Sure sounds like he is high on the Vols. If he wants to stay on the east coast then I think he picks Tennessee. USC is just a bit too far IMO.

Also, maybe UGA knows something and that's why they offered Geathers as a spot is now available???

It would also be nice to get some positive news out there the first week of March, when Orson is planning to announce. The more good press, the more momentum to take into spring ball and 2010 recruiting.

That is why the Fulmerites on this board never come into the Recruiting Forum to talk trash.

they are melting down their sporks to stab us in the back. first loss, watch out---spork shank attack. they'll come out with their nostrils flared and their beedy little bloodshot eyes----donut icing extruding from the creases of their lips, crouton crumbs all over their shirts---it'll be ugly...and salty.

Sounds promising, he also sounds like a real team player with his focus on winning a state title and not on taking campus visits, so thats always a huge plus. I hope we get this kid!

We need this guy more than anyone left on board. This is no knock on Brown because talent wise no question Brown is best in this class. However charles has NFL star written all over him and he has the personality that people rally around. Pure born Leader. We need a leader with his personality. If we pull Brown and Charles, this class would be amazing with guys that can impact this team from day 1.

I think him visiting USC will be a good thing for us. This is all just an opinion, but I think distance and the chance to play in the SEC will be what doesn't make him commit to USC. However, when he is visiting USC, he will basicly see again how he fits into the Pro Style offense that USC runs, and what we will be running. He will also hear from Pete Carroll about how the "hybrid TE" garbage that CMR is feeding him is worthless. All in all, I still think he ends up at UGA, but this visit to USC only helps reaffirm what he would be doing as a Vol.

i spent a night in Los Angeles when i was about his age, and i felt like i was on a different planet. i was very young and overwhelmed, and i could only hope that Charles may feel that way.

We are def in it, like someone said earlier this USC visit is going to help us too. It will show he can be used in a good pro style O. UGA offering Geathers may be a sign. If they are out of it, I like our chances alot.

dude thats a good idea to put up, but I'm not a member to rivals (volquest) so I can't read but the intro. What does he basically say through the whole thing

Charles will narrow from four schools that he is currently still considering – Tennessee, Georgia, Florida and Southern Cal. As for the Vols, Charles said they very much remain in the picture.

I like Tennessee," Charles said. "I really like the coaching staff. They are energetic and ready to go. Even though they are new, they were very clear and detailed to me on how they would use me and I liked the school on my visit. Tennessee was different than I expected. It is a better atmosphere than I thought it would be and you feel pretty comfortable when you visit there."

Because signing day has passed, coaches cannot call Charles, but the prospect can call any coach he wants, when he wants and Charles did that on Sunday.

"I talked to coach Kiffin last night (Sunday night)," Charles said. "I called him to say hello and to check on him. He has been in the news a lot and people around here have been saying a lot of things about him after the Florida stuff. We had a good visit and I spoke with coach (David) Reaves and coach (James) Gregg. I am going to give coach (Jim) Chaney a call to talk in some more details about the offense and how he uses people."

thanks for the info. We look good when it comes to charles. I honestly that if we get geathers and charles, then we multiply our chance to get brown by 100. He wants talent, if he sees we keep pulling it in, how could he resist.

In regards to our talent, the only thing I see that could possibly hurt us with some of these guys is the large question mark hanging over the QB position.

Interesting, thanks for the update. I really didn't think we were in the picture that much for Charles, but according to this, we are very much so.
