Our real problem is not the players, it's the coaching

Before I respond, let me be clear DS is an elite player who has carried this team in many ways this season.

Championship teams make those plays. No excuses. When the ball hits a target in stride in the hands, they make those plays.

Tennessee did not play like a Championship team. GA did.
Championship QBs throw that hard of a ball and hit the player in the body. Not above the ear

Just curious, where are you viewing the All-22s? More directly, where can I view them outside of Anderson? Thanks.

ESPN has a sky cast option for their games for an added cost through ESPN+. I think it's available under YouTubeTV also.
Wheels will give you a full game in less than 20 minutes. I suggest slowing the playback speed.
Carter SEC Power Hour will do film breakdown.
The Film Guy will give you a large film breakdown of many games.
Snaps will show you some breakdowns.

Nah. It's both. Players failed to make several plays. Coaches failed to adjust and had the team poorly prepared. Plenty of failure across the board.
I would say we were plenty prepared jumping out 10-0. Even being tied at 17 at half was more than acceptable. I think we abandon the run far too quickly in some of these games

Thanks. I'll definitely look into it. I can't imagine why, if available, there's not a regular UT All 22 breakdown YouTube channel. I'd think we have the fanbase to support it.

That's a free business idea for any of y'all who can breakdown film and have a voice worth listening to.

It's not the coaching, it was lack of execution last night. I go full blast on bad coaching with no shame, but last night the Vols just got that ass whooped on both sides of the line of scrimmage, plain and simple.

Agree. When your QB is getting sacked at a high rate, it limits the coaches’ ability to call pass plays down the field.

And on the other side of the ball, when you get no pressure, WRs will eventually get open. I would’ve liked to see some more blitzes, but I won’t say that cost us the game.

I agree. NFL widely allows this. For some reason, SkyCast or All 22 view on NCAA is hard to come by. It could be a great channel during the season to truly see the game instead of the tight view

Watching other teams play we do seem very dull in terms of play calling. No reverses or trick plays ever. Very predictable

Guess I’m the odd man out here.

Am I down because we lost? Sure.

But man…10-2 with wins vs UF and ALA if we can beat Vandy? A possible 11th win in a bowl game?

It hasn’t been so long ago that I still feel the pain of not being bowl eligible, getting beat by GA ST at home, losing conference records, coaching carousels.

Right now, complaining about a potential 10-2 record and 6-2 in the conference just seems unfathomable to me based on the recent history that was UT football.

And let’s remember how the offense really took off during Hooker’s SECOND year starting at QB.
I had us finishing 8-4 this season, so 10-2 definitely exceeds my expectations. The unfortunate thing is I thought a 10-2 record would be a lock to get in the playoffs.

I'd consider subscribing for decent money if UT made them available, even without any breakdown and prevented reairing/commercialization, though the Internet is cesspool of people stealing content and it's probably hard to stop reairing.

I tend to forget the Skycast and my family prefers the normal telecast, announcers and all. I see lots of complaints about broadcasters but I'm immune to anything but the play by play that's being said.

As an aside, if the Manningcast was in All-22, especially the segments with Belichick, I'd be in heaven. The Mannings and Bill know football and are incredibly quick at reading what's about to happen.

I think our staff is making strides but they are obviously not ready for prime time in the SEC yet. That loss to Arkansas at this point in the season appears to be inexcusable and will cost the program bundles of cash if we do not make the playoffs.

Reviewing the post mortem comments after last night's game, I see many comments blaming players. This is college ball, so you play the hand you are dealt. Nico always over throws his receivers on the long bomb, so delete it from the playbook. Sure, Dylan Samson is always good for 2-3 yards but we run that play up the middle too often. So if I, a TV room armchair doofus knows what play they will call next, then I'm pretty certain the opposing defense also knows it's coming.

Last night they called Sampson's number at mid field on a 2nd and 12. He gained 3 yards, and good for Sampson--that's what he does. But now the Vols are facing 3rd and 9, a low probability gain to convert. It stopped the drive. Are they incorporating their analytics?

The coaches have virtually no trick plays in their book. A fake punt at mid field is a play they can't even conceive of. They don't break up the plays enough to keep the opposing defense guessing. They don't have enough screen plays in their playbook; I saw only one screen last night. That stupid lateral pass to the sidelines has to go. The line of scrimmage discipline is atrocious, and it's obvious that all season Heupel has neglected the well established simple fix: execute pre-snap drills in practice.

The playbook needs a complete overhaul. Tailor the playbook to Nico's talents: short to mid range passes. More screens and more short slants to the sidelines. This will spread their defense deeper and wider and will enhance Sampson's rushing average. And finally, Josh Heupel needs to fire offensive coordinator Joey Halzle. The problem is the coaching.
I’ll agree with a lot of that. Why have wide splits if we don’t get any spacing? It just sooo different than his first two years as far as play calling.

The offense is very simplistic. They're not even trying to run hurry up much.. If there is a knock on the coaching staff it's lack of in game adjustments imo.. Seems we have a plan and if it doesn't work we just win or lose with it.. The 4-3-4 deal by Banks was shat..

Banks did get exposed last night. He had no answer for some of the things Ga did (probably never saw it coming) but the lack of aggressiveness really hurt & that’s on him. Under no circumstances could you allow Beck to play 7 on 7 which is what they did.

Never was going to beat Ga with 17 pts either. Inability to extend drives deep in Ga area really hurt.
