Our season (just an observation)

Beating a team that lost to Vanderbilt and Kentucky afterwards means absolutely nothing.

Who here agrees with this? Any time you beat UGA it is a great win...right up there with Bama and Florida. I think you're nutz.

We beat an LSU team last year that would destroy UGA this year. Apparently 2005 was a great season.

If beating UGA this year is a great win, there are a number of team with great wins this year.

How many SEC titles will those 3 10 win seasons have netted? I love how the Fulmerites act like people who expect us to win an SEC title more than once a decade think fans are asking for perfection.

I am not a Fulmerite. I AM A LIFELONG TENNESSEE VOL FAN. I AM A TENNESSEE GRADUATE. AND I AM A TENNESSEE RESIDENT. I will defend the Vols against Bammers, Dawgs, etc. and even the likes of you who bad-mouths the Vols at every turn. You have never made a positive comment EVER on this board regarding the Vols. It is very easy to sit at a keyboard and criticize every nitpick you can find. It would be very easy to take the top 10 programs over the last 10 years and find alot to criticize them about. It is very easy.

Another person who has obviously overlooked all of my Bruce Pearl posts. Oh, that's right. If you attempt to hold a coach who is living off accomplishments almost a decade old accountable, you are being negative. Right. Another fan who is getting exactly the program they deserve.

Apparently it isn't so easy to come up with valid support for Fulmer. This is how you know your argument is weak. Rather than counter the argument, you try to debase your opponent. It's very transparent.

Amen. Catching a game with these guys has to be a treat...especially for their kids.

I'm a Fulmer guy, and I always have been. But my opinion on the direction of the program is changing, strangely, more because of this "9-3" season than it did in last year's 5-6 debacle.

In 2005, I really thought we stood toe to toe with everyone we played. Injuries, penalties, turnovers, special teams, our crazy quarterback situation, and an insane schedule combined for 6 losses, but I really think we put a competitive team on the field that could--didn't, but could--go toe to toe with anybody in the country except maybe Texas and USC.

This year, we have beaten the teams that were not as talented as we are, and we have beaten some of them badly. But, regardless of the close scores in two of them, we were dominated in the three games we have played against top notch competition.

It is strange to say, but I felt like we were closer to being an elite team last year at 5-6 than we are this year at 7-3. The 2007 version of the Vols is playing better than the 2006 version, but we are not showing the signs of being championship caliber.

I am not ready to call for any heads, and I still think that right now the guys we have in the headphones are our best bet for getting us back to that level. But I do expect a return to that level, and there is only so long you can give a coaching staff to do that.

Don't do that. Now we're going to be inundated with posts about 10 year winning percentages by coaches who have lost weight in the last year, have a wife named Vicki, and once worked at Vanderbilt.

So it's all about having a winning horse every year and riding it with a smile on your face provided they win? What if the program someone "deserves" is one they are proud of even though they don't win every game? If the majority were as disgusted as you then I would think that could be seen in the attendance...but it isn't...why is that? Merchandisers haven't complained...why is that?

I didn't realize Fulmer's job performance was measured by merchandise sales and stadium attendance. If that were the case, Paris Hilton would be an effective head coach. In fact, she would be more effective than Fulmer.

Like I've said its very easy to be negative. But since only you and hatevol are allowed to criticize, you lower yourself to insulting me more. You are quite classy. Actually, I think Hatevol has signed in twice.

hatevol = kptvol?

I think you'll find the two are very much linked. Yes, indeed.

thanks for the intelligent post. when all else fails, resort to negative baseless comments. its the easy way out.

You are right. I apologize for resorting to your level. However, if you bothered to read any posts on here, you would notice that Hat and I disagree fairly frequently.

Hey, if going 8-4, 9-3 every year and going to some garbage bowl keeps the natives happy, God bless 'em.
Just don't complain when you wake up and realize you haven't won an SEC Title in 15 years and Kentucky has become a peer.
