CTV didn’t leave for LSU when he had the chance…….as 66 says, he ain’t leaving
I hope 66 is correct cause I ventured over to one of the Ark. board and CTV is mentioned a lot.

As far as LSU was concerned I can understand him not taking that job but now going back home (Ark) is another matter. Raised out in that area of the country.

CTV is/will be in high demand as he should be. He is already considered to be one of the top 3 in college baseball. Let's keep him in orange Danny White!

If my memory is correct (and that can be a bad thing), baseball revenues were around $2.5 mil...With the increase in seating and increase in ticket prices, if you double revenues, you're looking at $5.5 mil at the most...Expenses are around $12.5 mil...Got a ways to go to breakeven, but still TV and staff are worth it...
Can anyone breakdown the expenses - facilities, equipment, travel, scholarships, etc.?

Arkansas fans are the most delusional in this sport. “Tony coached under Van Horn, let’s bring him home”. He has no connections to that state and leaving for that program would be a lateral move. They think they can get anybody they want and that’s just not the case. 0 NC’s just like us, I’m pretty sure we have more SEC championships if you add the regular season and tournament titles together. They have more Omaha trips (not by many) but have only been runners up in that one time under Van Horn’s 22 year tenure and just two overall. Totally overrated program for how swelled their heads are.

STL and NW Arkansas are 6 hrs, a few hundred on the IQ scale and 300 years worth of culture away from each other. It’s not his home.

Perhaps when the Indians were the only ones out there, there was some commonality between the two areas.

I think the majority of Texas fans are eager for their coach to be shown the door. Unsurprisingly, I’ve seen more than a few drop Tony’s name as the top replacement target—almost like it’d be a foregone conclusion that he’d take the job. They haven’t even joined the conference yet and I’m already nauseated by their unearned sense of entitlement.

I’m not overly concerned that he’d leave. He’s getting a pretty new stadium, he got a nice salary bump, the fans are crazy for the program, he’s having no problems attracting talent, and he’s doing A LOT of winning. He’s building his own thing here, and I think he’s also loyal—Tennessee gave him his first shot at a head coaching gig.

Even so, I agree that we should be prepared to do what’s necessary to keep him around. I can see both Texas and Arkansas angling for him, but there probably aren’t many (if any) other programs that can even put a package together that he’d consider. If Tony left, I doubt we’d ever find another one like him. Keep him in Knoxville by any means necessary.
Imagine firing a guy with 3 CWS appearances and 3 conference titles in his 7 years there, and then thinking that other coaches would fall over themselves to replace him…

Yeah, at this point it’s more of a fan-driven narrative, but some of them are suggesting that their AD might want a fresh start as they join the SEC because he doesn’t think Pierce can cut it.

The “make him say no” and “double his salary” rhetoric is already starting. I love having a coach like Tony but it’s a little exhausting that other fans think their ADs can do a drive by and steal him from us after all he’s accomplished—and all the school, program, and city have given him—over the past 7 years. It annoys me that they think we’re some plucky little startup and not one of the biggest brands in college sports. If it were 2021 I’d understand it more, but he’s shaping this program exactly the way he wants, and he’s got an AD who fully supports him. No idea why he’d leave for a school like Texas that has fans with delusions of grandeur about how superior their program is.

There's delusional and then there's making Tony a hitting coach until DVH retires. This has me outright chuckling at my desk.

I think we should make Elander the highest paid assistant coach in baseball. He is going to get opportunities to be the man at other schools. I say pay him enough as an assistant to stay until at minimum an SEC school comes with a a head coach offer. He is way more valuable than many understand. He is our hitting coach, catching coach and recruiting coordinator. Wears a lot of crucial hats.
Maybe sooner than later.

If South Carolina can be patient enough to wait for our season to end, I don't see why Elander wouldn't take that job. He's been waiting for a high profile position, and it doesn't get much more blue blood than South Carolina. Granted, there's a lot of work to be done there as they've let the program slide a lot. But that job is up there with the best of them traditionally.

Personally, if we win the CWS this year I could see CJE taking a coaching job. He deserves the opportunity. Hate to see him go, but he is deserving.

They are trying to downplay Vitello 🤣😂🤣 and actually say he sucks.
Sounds like classic case of sour grapes.

~So, when things ended poorly in a Fayetteville Regional for a second year in a row, they were ready to take their shot. They longed for a return of the days of Tony Vitello, the former Razorbacks assistant turned Tennessee head baseball coach.

~There's only one problem with both of these notions. Arkansas didn't lose this weekend because the Hogs couldn't hit, and Vitello's tenure wasn't the sunshine and rainbows Razorbacks fans seem to remember.

~As for wanting to return to the glory days of Vitello, Arkansas finished 26-29 in his next to last season, the only losing season under Dave Van Horn, including a13-game losing streak to close the season. In 2017, Vitello's last, Arkansas got run out of its own regional by Missouri State following a 45-win season because the offense couldn't overcome three total runs in the championship game.

Feel free to peruse this thread for a glimpse at what Texas fans are thinking. I love that they think they just need to show him some money and say "wow, look at our history!" The comments about upgrading from a Maserati to a Ferrari are especially vomit-inducing.

The more I read from them, the more it becomes clear that they know nothing about Tony, his history, and especially his time at Tennessee. They also seem to know nothing about our school and our AD. What a bunch of pantywaists.

This is a mind blowing stat.

Here is a chart of every BaseVol player who has hit 15 or more HR in a season since 1980.

Over 50% of the players on this list are from the Vitello era 🤯

Griffin Merritt. Didn’t ring any bells. Looked him up. Was a graduate transfer from Cincinnati.

Definitely knew it was coming. He will take a job like South Carolina. If an upper tear SEC job is offered he is gone. Will be interesting to see what direction TV takes on the replacement.

I agree, but I also don’t think he will take South Carolina because I don’t think USC Jr. will have the patience necessary to land Elander. I can’t see Josh interviewing for jobs in the middle of the post-season. I’m sure his entire focus right now is on the goal in front of him, and my guess is USC Jr. will want to have someone in place really soon.

Elander will be a hot commodity for a lot of the open jobs. I hope he stays as long as possible but he definitely deserves his shot at a D-1 head coaching job. Tony on the other hand is set to become the highest paid college baseball coach. I read somewhere on here 2.8 a year for multiple years. It seems like Danny knows what he has as a head baseball coach. Tony will eventually win a CWS or two but will also have us contending yearly.

Tony will get a raise this off-season, but that report was a troll account spreading fake news.
