This is a very good, and often overlooked point you make. Hey, this guy has won at every level and every where he has gone over a long period of time, even winning a nat'l championship and before that, a runner-up. You can be lucky some or whatever you want to call it, but his longevity and record proves he knows basketball.

Yeah, look at the career accomplishments of noted tacticians like Guy Lewis and Steve Fisher. It obviously takes a great strategist to win games.

Like I've said time and time again, that's my perception of Pearl through working in the same department as him. Most people on these threads have no personal experience on the subjects they write on, but I just so happen to on this subject. I'm not jumping on the bandwagon of haters because he's having a "down" year. I would say the same thing about him being a snake in the grass if he made it to the Sweet 16 again this year because that's the type of person I think he is.

I'm not anonymously claiming that I've worked with him....Do you want my name, address, and résumé so you can verify that I did work with him? People have had a whole lot less info and bashed coaches on these threads before. Hmmmm, Fulmer for example, and he won UT a National Championship.

Yeah, put your info out there. Also, I don't care who bashes any coaches at UT because sometimes it is definitely deserved. My point was that it is ridiculous to use an anonymous relationship to point at someone being a "snake" without providing any evidence of this. Bash away, but be prepared to be called out when you say you worked with someone in order to insult them anonymously.

In regards to X's and O's, my team ran the flex in high school. It's about as basic as it gets and takes very minimal teaching. I could walk on to the court and jump right in the middle of UT's offense and not miss a beat.

Because of all the picks and movement it can work if the players make hard cuts and solid picks but this team doesn't do that.

It's ridiculous for someone to base an opinion on first hand experience? Good lord, the Pearlophiles are going to make the Fulmerites look reasoned and logical. What basis do you have for anonymously saying Pearl's not a snake in the grass?

I'm not a Pearlophile. I didn't deny he was a snake in the grass either or that he's not a good X's and O's guy. Try reading my posts. I just said I didn't have any evidence to say that. I also don't have any evidence saying he's a bad/horrible coach. He has a good track record so far at UT. It's just way too easy for someone to come on a message board and say, "Well, I worked with him, and he's . . ." without providing anything other than that. Then later it's revealed that they guy talked to him once or worked in an office near him. And, Hat, the Pearlophiles (if there are any) are no more ridiculous than someone who rushes to insult Pearl anytime someone on this board insults a different coach that they happen to like.

Did u always dislike Pearl or is this something that has come over the last year? Also, did you always hate Fulmer or did that come after he won you a NC?

Can you tell me what you see in BCG though. I mean I can see your point on Pearl and even Fulmer, but I really don't see what makes BCG better than Pearl. Sure you can say he has a winning record but what else? He isn't respectful, gets DUIs, etc... His best players are from Tubby and his freshman have turned out worse than ours. JMHO.

P.S. His creepy ass smile is worse than Fulmer clapping.

I would say BCG has earned his respect by the marvelous turnarounds he made in both UTEP and Texas A&M.

Check out where UTEP and A&M were when Gillispie arrived and compare that position to the one they occupied when he left. Also, Gillispie signed Patterson.

I didn't accuse you of any inaccuracies. It's just funny that on a UT board the guy insulting our coach at every chance pokes fun at those who defend him. I didn't put words in your mouth so don't put them in mine.

I was in charge of the game day operations *scanning a copy of my pay stub from UW-Milwaukee* and saw how Bruce treated the people around him. Multiple times I saw him being disrespectful (yelling, talking down to, and degrading) to the people that were "below" his overblown ego, but when the media and donors were around, he treated those same people he disrespected like they were his best friends. I know that part of being a coach is being a dick, but that doesn't make it okay for him to act that way towards people other than his players and assistant coaches. We can go around and around about this, but that's just my opinion and I'm entitled to it.....just as you are entitled to yours. Doesn't make either one of us right or wrong.

Hat's dislike of Pearl clouds his otherwise sound judgement on basketball matters. One guy comes out of the woodwork and badmouths Pearl and Hat jumps in as though he has an intelligent opinion in this matter. Pearl is a good coach. Plain and simple. To suggest otherwise taints the usual spot on basketball analysis Hat provides this forum.

Pearl has done an incredible job of rebuilding what was a garbage of a program, but to say that he ranks in the upper-tier of coaching is absurd.

Where was UMW or UT before Pearl? Pearl also landed Hopson. What's your point? Your reasoning for praising BCG could also be applied to Pearl but you choose not to.

Not me. 2 20 point beatdowns and 2 no-shows by UT was enough for one season. And Billy Clyde pretty much owns Pearl. 3-1 against him, with the only loss last year at TBA by 3 with their best player out.
