Pearl Ripped...

Can we please just make a sticky post of why hat doesn't like Pearl and his personal list of coaches that he thinks can do well at Tennessee?

which has zero to do with this case. Congrats on acting like an ass

It doesn't have anything specifically to do with the NCAA violation, but it certainly is an indicator that Pearl has some ethical issues, and those ethical issues are the reason we're in this current situation.

You may not have outright said it, but you berate MHF for supporting Hamilition do you not? Who is going to come here and win for us? Please post the long list of names sir.
I've only answered that question roughly 25,000 times. Today isn't going to be 25,001. The Search function is your friend.

This has been posted over and over and over. If you think Tennessee can't get a solid coach for Pearl's salary, you ought to just do yourself a favor and quit posting on this board.

I think Tennessee can, I just don't think we will. I'm good, I like the entertainment value that VN presents.

No question the Tenessee job is much more attractive because of Pearl, but hiring the right coach is never guaranteed, regardless of the circumstances.

Exactly. $2.5 mil doesn't guarentee us anything.

With that kind of money, it would he hard not to end up with a solid coach. It just isn't a guaranteed lock that a new coach could duplicate the success Pearl has had on the court.

Really, really hard. Hell, you can probably even find one who isn't stupid enough to lie in the face of photographic evidence.

What does Jay Bilas being a former Duke player have to do with him now being an analyst and bashing everyone involved because Bruce Pearl lied to the NCAA? If K lied to the NCAA, he'd be getting his too.

Bilas is a former player, coach, is a licensed attorney, and has been working for ESPN for awhile. If you've read much of his stuff, you'll find that he thinks about issues and speaks his mind. You may not agree, and he's okay with that. He respects your opinion and wants you to respect his, regardless of whether you agree.

That said, his opinions on NCAA regulatory matters should hold weight. When he says the NCAA rulebook needs to be shredded and replaced with one that makes sense, he gives reasons. When Jay says the actions Slive took were stupid, he explains why. He said the NCAA hasn't even completed its deliberations. Why would Slive impose his own ludicrous, random punishment? It's tantamount to a prosecutor imposing punishment before the judge has made his ruling.

To make matters worse, the NCAA (like the judge) will decide ON ITS OWN what punishment should be rendered to Pearl and UT - INDEPENDENT of Slive.

So ... Other than attempting to take the camera glare off of Cam Newton, what has Slive accomplished with Pearl's suspension? Nothing!!

I agree with Jay ... THAT truly qualifies as stupid.

Its also not guaranteed we can stick with Pearl after whatever punishment is handed out and compete at a high level anymore either.

People seem to be thinking that continued success with Pearl will be a given.

Every non home game that I have watched on tv, Pearl is getting hammered repeatedly by the broadcast crew. Since I attend the home games, I can only assume that Bruce is getting the same treatment during the telecast of these games. This being said, the national media seems to be going after CBP with a vengeance. Its like they smell blood in the water.

I mean if you did not know the actual allegations of wrongdoing, one would think that CBP and staff had commented MAJOR violations. I am beginning to wonder whether CBP will be able to keep his job which is really disheartening. Bruce is my kind of coach.... I love his passion and energy.... He has won at every level. If he goes, the Volunteer basketball program will fade back into utter obscurity!!!

The AA picks and chooses which rules they will enforce and which violations they penalyze.
