Pearl Ripped...

I've never lied when directly confronted with facts that could get me fired. Especially when admitting them would get me in very minimal trouble

Good for you. I guess lieing is only OK in certain situations. However, in Pearl's situation he had committed the infraction he lied about before, so I think there would be more than minimal trouble involved. I am just tired of all the holier than that bs on here. Pearl made a mistake, like we all have here.

the mistake he made was not reporting the secondary in the first place. He does that and no one even remembers it happened. Lying to the NCAA's face when presented with a picture is more than a mistake

It is a mistake in judgement. Plain and simple. He has paid for it, and more than likely will pay for it more by the NCAA. I for one hope he stays, and continues to be successful here. He is a good guy, a good guy that f-ed up, but a good guy.

Most people want Pearl here, including the administration, but it doesn't diminish the fact that Pearl made a big mistake. Hopefully he can survive it.

Do good guys snitch on 17 year olds or cheat on their wives?

I didn't know you knew him personally to make that assertion.

Back to the discussion. I like Pearl, and hope he stays. I do not believe it will be as easy, as some here think it will be, to find someone who is as good and successful and Pearl. I just wish folks would make up their mind with what they want. They want to win at all costs, but want a guy to walk the straight and narrow. I would love to find a guy who could do both, I just don't think one exists in college basketball today.

That's utter silliness. If you want to act like telling your spouse a hideous dress looks nice is the same as lying to the governing body of your profession, have at it. The rest of us choose to live in the real world.

Is this the same real world where you think firing our AD and head basketball coach will result in a positive for the program, and UT will make two amazing hires that allow us to be competitive immediately? Now that is utter silliness.

As long as they coach at UT and use body paint, yes.

Maybe I should not have said he was a good guy, because I do not know him personally. However, I do not judge someone's professional life by their personal life. Him cheating on his wife is no one else’s business, and is not relevant to him as our coach.

Where did I say the athletic director needed to be fired? Oh, you just made that part up. Good job following the Pearl Maxims. As to replacing Pearl, look at the teams paying their coaches what UT pays Pearl. Not many of them having much problem being "competitive." Just keep trying to sell the ludicrous idea that Bruce Pearl is the only guy in America you can get for 2.5 mil or so to win at Tennessee.
