Pearl to Iowa??

Back on topic. When the job opens Iowa will come calling. Pearl will do exactly as he did last time and politely say thanks but no thanks. That is my personal opinion based on no inside information whatsoever.

Curiously, who would you see Iowa looking at, based on opinion?

Thanks for that final qualifier. Otherwise we'd have all had to assume your insider status included this too.

Iowa will always be irrelevant farm garbage unless they demand excellence. Almost any program in a major conference can be incredibly successful if they demand excellence and are willing to spend the money.

Exactly the same as Tennessee. It's not like we became great just because we're UT.

No just emphasizing your point for our rational thinker Gonzo Jim who conveniently has no program of his own, so he's able to point out flaws in everyone elses and be immune from criticism.

For the right amount of money he will go to Iowa. I'm just not sure Iowa is willing to pay that much.

No way--but he'll use the threat of leaving to get a huge raise, bonus and contract extension.

Who won the SEC in his first season this year? That gives Cal as many in one year as your deity has won in five.

Hat, I enjoy reading your posts (for the most part, anyway..:birgits_giggle:). I'm just curious if you think that if CBP had the same players as Cal did this season, he would have won as many games, and would have won the sec championship game yesterday? My thinking is that almost any team in the conference would have won with the players that UK has. I know that coaching is a lot of it, but with that talent my thought is any team would have won.

As I've said before, Pearl is a good coach, but he must realize he's very fortunate to be coaching in a crappy basketball conference that has made it easier for us to make the big dance regularly in recent years. He'd have a much tougher go of it any any other major conference except the Pac 10. The big 10 isn't great in basketball either, but it's better than the sec. The SEC had one good team this year, and two decent teams, and that was it.

No way pearl goes up to that flat, boring corn country, with plump, unattractive women everywhere. UT is the place to be!!

Iowa would have to literally get a dump truck full of money and place it at his door step. Bruce has got it good at UT. He's in a weak bball conference, so it's easier to make the tourney every year. In the Big 10, he would face tougher opponents and arguably have a worse recruiting area than here. We've got the resources to lure top prospects, and Iowa may have decent facilities, I don't know. But I know they're not on the level of UT's. I just don't see it happening.

Who recruited and assembled those players and isn’t that a part of coaching?

I will be curious to see what all the people who talk about his loyalty say if Bruce uses this to get another raise.

I'll go ahead and tell you. Pay the man if you want him here. If you don't, let him go to Iowa and we will see what happens.

They aren't paying him now? What does any of what you said have to do with Bruce's loyalty?

That's seriously talking up the loyalty.

Bruce has brought more money to this University through the basketball program than ever before. So it wouldn't be a stupid decision financially to give him a raise.

If Mike Hamilton thinks Bruces teams havent played well enough to earn a raise, then so be it. Let him truck off to Iowa. Just be ready for 7,000 fans in TBA and NIT appearances.
