Seriously, you can't recognize it? It gets tiresome around here sometimes to have the same circle of people condescend to everyone by belittling their point as "meaningless crap" while coming in on their "white horse". My "bragging" was pointing out how you changed the emphasis to me being some kind of Pearl nut-hugger who ignored postseason when I justified my point over yours in our particular argument.

this is a fantasy. Your point was injected into a conversation where it has no merit. You tried to give it merit, but that doesn't change the reality. Average wins is the crap guys that can't pass the sweet 16 talk about. Coach K has enormous average wins over the past 9 years. Think anybody cares? Exactly.

The Iowa papers indicate that Pearl is the number one choice and is overwhelming the fan choice for thier new coach. They go on to say that they don't think he would leave Tennessee, but if they pay him enough, who knows.:eek:hmy:

I know I've been called a lot of things on this site or considered a racist. But my pa is an active alumni and talks with guys who are in the know about the basketball program.

The word is that Pearl is going to talk with Gary Barta after the season is over about the Iowa Mens Basketball job. From what was said, Pearl is interested in the job depending on the money they are willing to offer more than his current salary.


Anyways I could see him leaving, I dont think he would actually be interested in a job that would pay him less than what hes currently making. Either he goes there for whatever amount of money or we might have to pay him top money.

Bruce Pearl is one of the 5 best coaches in college basketball, he needs to be paid like it.

I will admit I would like to see a clean team without a bunch of guys covered in tats, screaming after every basket, and then the gangs some of them are involved in. We need to build a team like Northern Iowa, we dont need to recruit uneducated athletes just because they can dunk, we should be targeting smart kids who may not be athletic but are capable of knocking down 3's.

Top 5? I like him but I think you are stretching it. That being said I would take Knoxville over corn fields any day of the week.

The only thing Pearl is doing with any job opening this year is leveraging it for a better deal at Tennessee.

Im not stretching it at all. Look at how much he has gotten out of these guys he recruits, there are guys on this team with 0 basketball IQ and hes getting the to play defense and score baskets.

I dont understand the criticism of his record each season when people fail to ignore hes coaching under priviledged kids with limited basketball knowledge outside of scoring. The fact he was able to keep a gang member in Tyler Smith out of trouble for so long deserves him credit too. He transformed Smith from a gangbanger into a person who could maybe become productive in society.

I'd rank the Top 5 coaches in college basketball:

1. Coach K
2. Jim Calhoun
3. Tom Izzo
4. Bruce Pearl
5. Roy Williams

What's your criteria? I ask because the only way Pearl is ahead of Williams is if you are basing it solely on this year's performance, and in that case he'd also be ahead of Calhoun.

Ya, because white guys never celebrate after baskets or have tats. I'll admit when I think of the teams I would like Tennessee to be like UNI is always the first to come to mine because they are a perennial powerhouse. I wouldn't want our players to be anything like Kansas, I think Collin's has a tat or two.:disappointed:
