I'm pretty sure Tennessee would pay 3 million for an unproven coach at a smaller school. Kind of like they did the first time when they got Pearl from UWM. Georgia and Bama dished out some money. Look who they got. That's not to say those coaches won't be good because it looks like they are on the right track but if you think Tennessee is luring a proven coach from a basketball school... pass the joint.

Lickliter is gone. Not officially, but it's a done deal. There was a report yesterday from an Iowa radio station that said he was resigning due to health reasons. Then, after they got beat down by Michigan yesterday, he said his health is fine and it's up to the athletic director.

He won't resign because he wants his buyout. But he will be fired soon. Barta met with each player individually last week. It could happen this weekend but probably not until Tuesday. It won't happen Monday because that is when the women's NCAA tourney selection is announced. The Iowa women will make it so that would be a poor PR move by Barta.

I'm glad to see one of the Pearl Slurpers finally admit their mentality. "It doesn't matter what we do in games everyone in college basketball knows are the ones that matter, as long as we win some games we can jump up and down about in January and February, we're thrilled. We have no expectatio of actual success."

Yep. Watching kids play sports isn't my life so that makes me a horrible or crappy fan. Either or works. I'll be that loser. The one that isn't completely bitter based on the short comings of college kids playing a game. Tough bullet to swallow but I think I'll manage.

Why would UT have to pay an unproven coach 3 Mil? They paid Bruce nowhere close to 3 Mil when he came to UT.

Bama and Georgia got very,very good coaches.

UT has proven over five years that fans will support a winner, we have as good of an arena as there is and we are not rebuilding... give Pearl credit for raising the profile of the job.

If Bruce left for Iowa it would have to be for something in the 3 Mil range; UT would have no problem finding a coach who could get to the Sweet 16 for 3 million.

I doubt it. Given the quality of both the reasoning and the writing of your posts, I'd guess the rest of us will be paying for your upkeep at some point.

Chism is the only real recruit to play 4 years under Pearl.. I believe. Most coaches can't recruit as well as Pearl let alone overcome all of the losses. Ramar and Duke would change a lot if they were on the court. They'd be seniors. That's just two people based off potential. This team would be even more scary with Tyler Smith still on the roster. It's hard to base what Pearl has done when you look at all the losses.

I am fully expecting a speech or argument against Bruce Pearl saying he recruited the kids now. Key word, kids.

I don't understand what that has to do with what we are talking about.

There are many, many coaches out there who can recruit better PG's than Pearl.

Pearl has done a good job, but he's not worth 3 Mil.

Ramar Smith has a lot to do with it. He was a 5* recruit that played point guard. He'd be a senior now. Tennessee is working with two juco point guards because of it.

Hat, for the most part, has laid out who he is on here and what he does. He's not hidden much.

All I know about you is you are a guy who loves Pearl and for the most part has an ego the size of Texas.

Lay it out who you are if you are such an insider. There's a whole lot of people who pretend to be what you say you are.
