Who do you think has done a better job as coach here? Personally I gotta go with Barnes the only thing Pearl has over Barnes is he got us to the elite eight. Barnes might do something this season that Pearl never did in getting us to the Final Four along with earning a number one seed. Yes an argument could be made that Pearl made our basketball program relevant again after years of wondering in the wasteland but didn’t Jerry Green also do that he just never gets much credit. Plus Pearl is a lying sleeze bag, Barnes isn’t and has way more class than Pearl. I have to admit I enjoyed the Pearl years but I cannot stand the guy now.

Personally, I'm way done on Pearl. His time here was great and very enjoyable, but in terms of building a program and doing it with character and the right way, Pearl can't hold Barne's jockstrap.

Barnes hasn’t been to an Elite 8 because the refs in the 2019 Purdue game made 5 incorrect calls/non-calls on the final regulation possession that all went against Tennessee and any one of which, if called correctly, puts Tennessee in the E8.

No, he hasn’t been to an E8 at Tennessee, but he’s earned one.

So Pearl has nothing on Barnes.

I’ve never understood the issue. Pearl should be given immense praise for the resurrection of the Big Orange basketball and putting life into a fan base that had let basketball fall by the wayside. But who would I want as UT’s coach? Without a doubt, Barnes! The two do not have to be mutually exclusive.

The fan base didn't let the team fall by the wayside.

I appreciate Pearl for reviving our basketball program and giving us a lot of excitement at a time when football was down. But I would take Barnes as a program builder and man of character. I appreciate his time here and we were very, very fortunate to have him fall in our lap (thanks Texas).

In short, I do appreciate both, but I am not looking back to the Pearl years. I am in the present and enjoying every minute of it.

My thoughts exactly. I loved Bruce when he was here and think he got a raw deal by the NCAA. However, he's gone and I'm glad he is doing well at Auburn. I'm also glad we have Barnes and we are doing good.

I don’t know, us fans never should have hired O’Neill, Tyndall, Buzz, Wade, and Green. I really messed up on that one.
Blaming fans for the admin being absolute clowns who didn’t care about bball for many years is dumb. I, like many, was in that place when we weren’t even making the NIT. There are many fans who got on board when Pearl got here, which is great. Many are a younger generation. No problem. However, to act like UT basketball didn’t have a committed and passionate fan base all along, is ridiculous.
